Any experience of this to a new house which needs a BT line brought in from a decent distance (100m +)

Do you just pay the same as for a new connection to an existing house (£70-130ish) or do you need to foot the bill for poles and cables like when bringing electricity to site?

I have not been able to find out who to contact regarding this. Openreach seem to assume you know what spec of cable you need - I just want a phoneline!

Advice welcome.

Is this price list helpful?

You should not have to pay the first £3,400

Worked for a Telecoms company a couple of years ago.

If the Address is off the network they would send the job for site survey first.

Surveyor would work out best way of routing, whether they can bring in a line from an existing pole - distance and network capacity taken into account. Sometimes they can duct it in.

They'll then produce a bill. Had one rural customer who's nearby pole was full and wanted an extra line. Got a quote for £25000 to string a new line of telegraph poles across a field. They waited until a nearby housing development went through and the developer arranged the extra capacity.
