You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So after chatting to the SO yesterday we have decided to treat ourselves to a bit of winter sun this year. Looking at travelling late Jan/early Feb, we have a budget of approx £800 all in for probably around 10 days) but beyond that have reached a bit of a stumbling block!
What we want: Nice hotel (4 or 5 star), Proper sun/warmth (hopefully 25 Deg plus), All inclusive would be nice but not essential, something else to do beyond hotel pool/beach (I can only manage a couple of days of sedentryness (sp?) before I start to go stir crazy!).
So where in the world should I be looking?! Just had a quick google and seems like Turkey or Egypt are the main contenders but have you lot got any betterer ideas? Anyone done something similar? Any good operator's or should I book seperate flight's and hotels?
Just in idle speculation stage at the moment so any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Graham
Southern Spain?
The costa del sol is cheap and cheerful but you can easily visit some nice places like Granada, Seville and Cordoba. Malaga city is nice btw. You could throw in a bit of biking too with sierracycling.
The last time I went to Turkey [Istanbul] in January, there was 4" of snow
What the hell is a holiday...
Canaries?
The Tabaiba Princess near Maspalomas is a decent all inclusive place
Cyprus,
we used to do Gran Canaria every winter before we had the kids and thought it was great, took the kids there a few years back and hated it,
had been to Cyprus in the summer before and thought we would try it in the winter althought people said it's too chilly,
we went in mid feb and it was superb, no rain, a couple of slighty hazzy days temps in the mid twenties and my four year old daughter dragged me in the med everyday and i have to say it was comfortable niether hot or cold,
will be going back again next year,
go to the paphos end.
Thanks all that was quick! went to malaga years ago on a lads week away and all I can remember was the beer! but could well be an option.
I think if I suggested riding as one of the activities I may well not survive the holiday!
Hadn't thought of the canaries but will check it out, Hmm snow is defo NOT what we want!
Keep the idea's coming!
Canaries, I'm off to lanzarote for a week in jan, £719 for a week all inclusive for 2 people.
Lanzarote? hmmm have vauge memories of my sister doing a swimming training camp there one year so guess must be some stuff to do! will get google fingers on!
Any advice on tour operators?
Did the Canaries a couple of Febs ago - it was quite windy but very warm.
Ate here (almost stayed but decided to go self catering by the sea) - pretty impressive place:
