It's like a map of war. Initial invasion site left collar bone. Over the course off the evening it's spread down and claimed left nipple. Stung while riding home from work on bicycle. When should I start worrying? Slightly swollen too. Felt like something hit and stung simultaneously. Had one last week while out running, near arm pit. Hoping invasion map not going to spread further south and murder me to death. It won't will it?

Do you know if you have allergies to insect bites/stings?
I do, and I've had some bad reactions which has resulted in visits to Doctors and prescriptions for steroids...
You certainly need to be careful if you get swelling. Benadryl helps in not so serious cases
I've been stung by wasps twice this summer. Luckily, I've some left over prescription steroids so I didn't bother with the quack.
My dog walker was also stung and had to get an epi pen injection at hospital!
And yes, you can die in extreme circumstances...so Mrs Vlad tells me (she's a nurse, so not just nagging me)
Slightly swollen too.
Can be a sign of sepsis so be cautious. That's what made Mrs Vlad insist I go to Doctors originally, and hence I ended up on steroids
I had three small bites, not stings on my legs about a month ago, just small red slightly itchy bumps, which I put some tea tree oil on. They developed into red, itchy patches over a couple of days, so I used anti histamine cream on. After about a week, the patches had become quite a bit bigger, and were hot, so I went to the minor accident unit at the hospital, and saw a nurse who triaged me and told me to phone 111, because it was a Sunday afternoon. Did the 111 call, had someone call back a couple of hours later, who sent me a link so she could check it out using my phone’s camera, she confirmed they were infected and sent a prescription to the pharmacy for a five day course for antibiotics.
I was probably a horse fly, I didn’t feel anything at the time, but I’d get it checked out as soon as possible, because it seems very similar to my bites.
They itched like buggery, too!
As above, call 111 and see what they say. Bites wouldn't normally do that unless infected or it was something 'exotic'
Madame got done by the infamous crianlarich mosquitoes, couple of days later she was feeling very grim with a badly swollen face. Dr's took it seriously and prescribed antibiotics
I got some bites on my legs while on holiday in Dubrovnik 3 weeks ago. Itchy at the time, but treated them with a local topical cream. A week after I got back they became big red itchy-as-f*** patches. I rang 111, doctors prescribed a steroid cream that is nigh on unobtainium, so pharmacist recommended Eumovate, a dermatitis & Eczema cream, available over the counter. More or less sorted now
As above, call 111 and see what they say. Bites wouldn’t normally do that unless infected or it was something ‘exotic’
Got what I now think was a tick bite on my arm on Friday afternoon - got really sore overnight, this morning I can feel/see the heat and redness spreading along my arm, 111 booked me straight in at the Urgent Treatment Centre at 10.30.
Better safe than sorry
I think a 111 call is in order for this one too, but short of that, I’d at least be asking for some eumovate over the counter at a pharmacist. It’s brilliant stuff, way better than hydrocortisone. My son has it for his eczema and i nick it for any insect bite.
The rash spread further yesterday, covered entire left breast and quite itchy, breast was (to my eye e at least) visibly swollen. Didn't see the suggestions to call 111 until getting into bed! So didn't.
Been taking off the shelf hayfever/allergy tablets to help it.
Rash now much diminished, only around nipple and lower sternum now. Still itchy but don't think death imminent!
Also this was coupled with a load of mite bites which I'm assuming came from a park bench I sat on Friday lunch time, as no one in the regular spaces I inhabit had them.
Can just picture my Grandma telling me I've been through the wars as a child!
Slightly different, but Mrs came down stairs a few days ago complaining she had an itchy bite on the back of her thigh. Took a look... very much the ill effect of a tick bite - spot in middle, pale area around then a red rash. After some ear bending from me and daughter she reluctantly phoned the quacks. Result - quickly dealt with, and a full month's worth of pretty powerful antibiotics to counter Lyme disease before it takes hold.
Half an hour at the UTC, all my vital signs are normal, as the itching outweighs the pain was told it was a reaction rather than an infection, so to hit the antihistamines.
Any temperature or racing pulse, straight to A&E
Yeah there weren't any other symptoms like breathing difficulty or high heart rates, just found the big rash a little concerning. First stop STW, 2nd 111!
