So who's doing this this year?
The prompt list + rules here: https://inktober.com/rules/
And last year's thread for inspiration: https://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/inktober/
Bump for the evening crowd.
Yep, up for it again.
Might be a bit of fun again Might even get some on Instagram this year.

I might give it a go but I’m just learning to draw. Something I’ve wanted to do for years and never quite got round to it...
Would love to but I seem to be incapable of producing any drawing that's not a rough plan view of a dinghy or a slightly messily shaded box.
Art is the one subject I had the dubious honour of scoring bottom (sub 25% scores) in the whole year group two years running at secondary school. Odd because i am a bit of an aesthete in many ways.
I wait the efforts of the talented. 😀
Not signing up as I have extremely limited abilities when it comes to drawing. Stick men and badly deformed dinosaurs (that are probably traumatising Funk Jr) are my main output. Really looking forward to seeing the efforts of others though. There were some brilliant ones last year.
Found the first one I did back in 2017.
Going to shove them all back on IG.
Its all a bit of fun...so never put yourself down on so called drawing ability.
You see my Dads original Stikdog.
Caramel Bunny

It's Inktober, you're allowed to be crap. And it's a great way to get less crap, nothing like daily practice to get better!
I give up on thisphone. I'll on the pc later.
From the prompt list.
No.1 Poisonous

One day in and already fallen behind 😆
Will try and catch up later!
Still finishing mine from last year!
Funny thread last year with the rowing about real ink/compooter enhancements 😆
Gonna try do some quicker ones!
tried quick biro sketch for "tranquil"

(Cover image of Tranquill's "Hidden Treasures" EP). Needs better inks!
I've only got one pen and a kids paper pad here in a Belgian Centre Parcs so a bit limited on drawing ideas.
2. Tranquil

for the rum fans...
Liking all the drawings 🙂
3. Roasted
Almost certainly not safe for STW (or lego fans) 🙂 so here is the link only.
'Almost certainly not safe for work'
😳
Like a Lego Rorschach test! At first I peered for ages, trying to figure out why two men rolling out some dough on a table was NSFW 🤣 I showed Mrs MR (without preamble) and she said, 'oh that's clever, Lego people playing table Pacman, right?'
Ace.
My quickie for "roasted".

3. Roasted
😆
4. Spell

Come on chaps; get drawing.
Where's everyone from last year? This thread needs more pictures.
I can’t draw worth a damn, and I really don’t feel too inclined to try. to be perfectly honest.

too involved in other stuff at the mo tbh, might chuck up one or two if i feel the urge, but tbh not sure I'll be doing it this year.
Keep at it though, will watch with interest!
I just thought I'd add an update from Last Years Inktober thread. It prompted Mrs Binners to pick up the pens and start scribbling again. Just tentatively at first. She hadn't drawn a thing for 25 years, she reckons. She's now really developed a style of here own layering acrylics, watercolour pencils and ink outlines, and she's gettign more and more requests for commissions.
More to the point she's really enjoying it. She's just done this...

That's lovely Mrs Binners... but this is a chicken 😀

Today MTB ride and lunch stop sketch.
Indian Ink and Elderberry pen. I cut the pen from the tree and left behind.
Great drawings all. Loving Mrs Binners eagle. How big is it? It's a bit hard to tell on the screen.
Still trying to stick to the prompts.
5. (angry) Chicken

The Eagle is A3. Heres another one of her recent ones. She does all sorts but the birds are my favourites

First attempt at dots for shading. Buggered up the lips but hey ho.
6. Drooling

The oak tree on the leaf is absolutely awesome.
Great stuff red thunder!
That looks like a great first attempt Jon. Are you using the same weight pen for all of it? Try using different weights for when you want to alter the shading from lighter to darker?
these Rotrings give you a good spread
0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 is all you need. I need to get mine out and actually bloody draw something, don’t I?

Thanks Binners. Yeah, using the same pen for everything at the moment. It's Unipin fine line 0.1. I only have a single pen with me on holiday and a 50p pad of paper from tesco which absorbs and spreads the ink. I have a 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 at home so will give those a go when I get back.
I got obsessed with stippling like that when I was at Uni. I’d have big incredibly detailed A2 pieces on the go for weeks, that i’d Just keep coming back too. I still find it really therapeutic. I think I definitely need to revisit that
2nd attempt at stippling.
7. Exhausted

That yawning koala is just ace. 👍🏼
Am I the only one doing this now? If so I might as well give up.
8. Star

9. Precious

Jon - that Koala is absolutely bloody brilliant!!!
Thanks Binners. It was all down to your tip about different pen weights!
10. Flowing

Am I the only one doing this now? If so I might as well give up
That's what I thought 😆 Keep going mate, they're always worth a look. I was going to do a 'star' based pic the other day, but I ended up building a wheel instead. 😀
Am I the only one doing this now? If so I might as well give up
I've done a couple more but haven't bothered posting. Which sort of defeats the object I suppose 🙂
Anyway, they were crap. Your pictures are much better.
Anyway, they were crap.
So were mine, I still posted em! Doesn't matter, get em up 'ere 😀
Come on Mogrim, post them. I'd like to see them. No drawing is rubbish if you enjoyed doing it.

Flow.
looks better in tiny format 😀
Hopefull 'cruel' will inspire me to spend more time...
Think I am finally getting the hang of crosshatching
11. Cruel

12. Whale
Brucey bonus points if you can guess which book it's from.

Moby Dick?
i dun whale too (not biro for a change)

Snail and the whale.
Akira got it. It's one of my favorite books to read to the kids.
DezB, that killer whale is great.
Ah, thanks jonm 😊
I have just noticed a TM has appeared on the Inktober logo 🙁
Dont know why but this has turned me off the Inktober brand a bit 🙁
Hope its not just a vehicle for Jake Parker enterprises.
It'll be a damn shame if Parker tries to start making a profit from the whole Inktober thing. I don't do the whole hastag malarkey so only really use it as an excuse to force myself to draw something.
Anyhoo, today's is 13. Guarded

‘Guarded’ didn’t really inspire (do like your nice guardsman Jonm) not happy with mine.. but I did it so...

Why, not like you are forced to buy something? If the boy can make a few quid at it, hell if he can make a killing at it, all the best to him I say.
It has no effect on whether I will or won't pick up a pen in a given October (which I will do again (too busy taking the concept elsewhere and learning wordpress/php/javascript at the mo tbh over a longer term)).
some good stuff on this thread btw, keep at it. It was great having the full 31 drawings to look back at last year seeing the progress.
Love that whale btw dez, great movement in it.
Really like the line of guards Dez.
14. Clock

Cheers, was trying to go for a nice perspective look, but the roof went wonky. 🙂
Too much bike stuff to do today, might have a go at 'weak' tomorrow.
Nearly half way through 🙂
Lost count today.
15. Weak

Like it. Shame no one else is inkin!
OMG! Landscape Artist of the Year has just started - not sure if it’s inks, but there’s a young woman’s b&w submission that is absolutely glorious. The lines and marks and shading, oh to be able to draw like that...
And she's only 20!
Jesus, she is good!! Seriously impressive.
Shit day at work so seriously lacking enthusiasm tonight hence:
16. Angular

Fat
Been a bit crap lately, with not a lot of time. Love the guards BTW.
Re. the (TM) thing - I wonder if that's not just him keeping Inktober safe from commercial interests? If he didn't tm it anyone could make money from it?
Edit: oops. Fat was day 16 but 2017. Never mind 🙂
Nice splash of colour there redthunder 🙂
Like the drawings, especially the atari one redthunder. It's good to see some colour here.
An angular artist 🙂

Damn it, overdid the fingers on the right hand 🙁
17. Swollen
