I have an outstanding objection registered as I'm sure this wasn't in that old post as a definition of old age.
Well, on the bright side it only hurts cycling when I stand up and pedal.
I've actually renamed it to a 'husnia' as it mainly hurts when I go shopping or do the house work.
So to my questions.
What trusses work and what do not?
And should I get a double sided one to future proof myself?
Sorry to hear that you have one, they can be pretty uncomfortable.
My advice would be to just go and get it repaired. £3k private and you will be completely rid of it in a couple of weeks.
I had mine done in March, it's only going to get worse, more uncomfortable and it could be dangerous.
And should I get a double sided one to future proof myself?
I've had both sides done, I like to think I now have a bionic groin.
Not both at the same time though - first one was when I was about twenty, as a result of a beer/bbq/rope-swing incident. Second one in my early thirties, just happened, some people are more susceptible apparently.
Both were fully opened up, mesh insert jobs. The Consultant second time round offered that or keyhole, but said keyhole, whilst less invasive, was more likely to need further repair later on, fully opened up is the more sturdy. He said as I was relatively young and healthy he advised against the keyhole, they generally do that with older people who'd struggle more with recovery.
Cheers both.
I've been given the choice of either but have decided on open for the same reasons, although I'm 5n, but the doc is happy as I'm fit.
I don't do private so will happily wait my turn. It's a reasonable wait with all the obvious issues of the current time, but hey ho.
Just ordered a truss so will see how that goes.
Join the club. Going for both sides via keyhole - consultant reckoned I’d be back in my feet and exercising way faster and failure rate for keyhole was in the low single digits.
Single / keyhole / mesh. Bit of tightness and physio needed but all good now.
Waited 12 weeks before doing Jedi jump and drops course - it was a little tender by end of the day 😂
Heated seats, prunes, make sure to keep weight off after. Don’t go back in expecting to be same level of fitness / strength after being off serious bike / gym for 8 - 12 weeks. Build back up slowly with short gravel / road rides on a plush double suss.
Hope it goes ok..
Cheers all.
Time off ☹️ I better try and ramp up so I start from a higher threshold.
Meanwhile the truss arrived yesterday. It feels great. Did a walk yesterday with no discomfort at all.
