Watched it yesterday evening.
Bloody hell! 😳
Exactly, superb film and cliffhanger or what
Yup, can't see the picture. ^
watched it last night with a couple of other families. There were children crying at the end - which was understandable I guess
I thought the humour throught was spot on - I want a Thor and Rabbit movie (or at least a few web shorts) now more than anything
With you on the Thor and 'Rabbit'! Although Rabbit and Bucky were pretty cool too!
For me, Thor is just the bestest kick arse dude out there!
Not seen it yet and it has been so difficult trying to avoid the spoilers. I have read the book/comic so I know things happen. Might wait for the furore to die down and try and pick a quiet afternoon viewing.
Listened to the Mark Kermode podcast this morning and his only real criticism was the need for emotional attachment to the MCU franchise is necessary but acknowledged that Blade Runner 2049 was an acquired taste.
Good: guardians of the galaxy dialogue, unexpected ending (not read the comic), most of the action scenes
Bad: you have to had seen a few of the other films, did they really need _all_ those characters? And no ant man. And don’t bother waiting for the after credit scene (I didn’t know this was a marvel thing until junior llama stopped me leaving). Oh and benedict’s accent grates a bit.
i think this is the first I’ve seen in the cinema, but seen enough of them to know what’s happening. I’m not a big fan marvel fan but I am partial to a comic. On balance quite good 8.5/10
Just wondering if anyone has read the infinity graphic novels and if so is the story based on this or is it just loosely based?
Just saw it this afternoon- loved it! It's like a GotG film rather than the usual Marvel, so not as formulaic. Saw no spoilers beforehand, so was well happy when the Guardians lot appeared.
Superb stuff. Wonder where they'll go next with it...
(btw, there's a really interesting 'before they were famous ' gallery of superheroes on IMDb now)
Massive MCU film fan and really didnt want this to disappoint .
Guardians of the Galaxy was the best for me with Ragnorok a very close second but this tops the lot .. from the outset it means business and didnt disappoint .. At the end me my wife and son were left open mouthed .. Now the exception of a few extra cast members Hawkeye and Antman/wasp (who may or may not be there or there abouts in 2019 ) it was a star studded film , loads of very funny bits and action scenes .
Brilliant simply Marvel! ous
sarcastic-eye-roll: I am groot
Language!
Has to be done
I went at 1000 on the day it was released. Was surprisingly quiet, just a bunch of guys in there on their own (me included!).
Really enjoyed it though. Lots of laughs and lots of seriously awesome bits! Just want to find out what happens now!
Did everyone wait to see the end credit scene?
Did everyone wait to see the end credit scene?
Didn't give much away...
The bit at the end was a huge clue to the next movie.
Going Monday at 17:10 as my mates can't make it sooner. So looking forward to it.so sad....
SPOILER ALERT
Just got back from seeing it with the boy and nephew. Thought overall it was really good fun. Only downer was the ending and where they're going to go from it. Either half the universe is dead and we carry on or some magic/Voodoo happens and everyone gets rematerialised.
Still think GoG is the best franchise and the last Thor film was awesome, this comes a close third. The action scenes were great, as expected, but the interplay between the characters from the various parts of the MCU were hilarious. A solid 4/5 stars. Hulks performance anxiety was really funny as well.
If you come into this thread and don't expect spoilers you're a chump, but, just in case, <sigh> spoilers.
Really is a hell of a movie. I mean, I came out of Black Panthr and said "yeah it was good but the last third was just an endless fight scene". But this was like 66% fight scene, and still awesome. I was a wee bit surprised by how much they trusted the audience to know the material- hardly any intros or recaps, that's pretty brave really. And even before the end it's incredibly brutal about its wider cast. I really want to know if Hawkeye melted. And Ant Man's mexican sidekick.
Also, they will deep fry your kebab.
It was very good. Really enjoyed the humour mainly bought by the guardians and Thor. Peter Dinklage as a giant was excellent.
The only issue for me is that MCU publish what films are coming up in the next few years. So clearly there will be some alternative universe or some reversal of the loss of characters in the next avengers as there’s going to be another Guardians film after the next avengers and also think there another Spider-Man film coming next year too.
Can't wait to see it, knew I was taking a chance viewing this thread (and was prepared to take that chance) but many thanks to the thoughtful folks who prefaced their posts with spoiler alerts, really appreciated. 🙂
Booked to go and watch it again Tuesday ... now thats a first !
Likewise here too @ Stevedoc 😃 A very good film indeed.
Extremely rare for me and I'll be hunting for clues! If there are any... 😉
Sequel. Captain Marvel helps kill Thanos. Dr Strange uses the time stone to bring everyone back to life, even Loki and Idris Elba.
Once Spiderman and Black Panther turned into confetti it was obvious that their demises would have to be reversed seeing as their own sequels are scheduled.
Sequel. Thanos gets sad about green woman and turns back time. He is moody. They kill him. This was Dr Strange’s 1 in a gazzilion scenario. There is much chin stroking.
Nebula has a part to play in it all if it follows the lines of the comics and Adam( Warlock ) To be seen from Gardians 2 end credit scene may very well come in to it. Saying that the Russo brothers might be up for a little tinkering as previous films have had a little artistic messing as it were .
Excellent film. I did cone out of the cinema wanting a deep fried kebab though.
Just seen it, it's a bit good. I can see why people say it needs a second look!
Took my mates son (he's 10) to watch it on saturday, i thought it was two hours too long but then again it's the first avenger/superhero film i've watched, prob the last i'll watch as well but Nico enjoyed it so i was happy to sit and doze through it.
It was entertaining, lots of great one-liners, but a bit long and crowded with characters. 8/10. I think it would have been better to have split this into two movies, an Avengers one and a Guardians one, with the two teams only linking up at the end for the final battle.
Obviously, Doctor Strange knows things about the future that we don't. Time-travel is just a lazy way for scriptwriters to set up a cliff-hanger and then go back and undo everything, so pretty obvious that most of the superheroes will be resurrected.
I thought the green lady would have splattered a bit more when she got thrown off the cliff, for some reason that really broke my suspension of disbelief.
Took the FIL on friday night which was my second viewing and I liked it, I really like the solemn ending and only one cut scene.
I dont agree with too many characters, I do agree with the time travel being a lazy script writing get out clause, insert hero from cut scene who has time travel/control abilities too...
Hmm lost my post...
The time travel part was getting hinted at and it reinforced Kermode's point about jeopardy being important, as much as decimating the cast as we went along was shocking and great to heighten the sense that nobody was safe the feeling as the credits rolled was more long does the rewind button need pressing next time.
BUT
It's a rip roaring, funny, touching, battle laden romp through space with a bunch of people you would love to hang out with for a bit - except Thanos he is miserable. Well acted, characters with some depth despite some very brief appearances, Loved it in the very empty cinema last night
Lazy Saturday afternoon, so I've just been to see it.

My thoughts exactly. With such a high body count, the only solution is a deus ex machina "Bobby Ewing steps out of shower" rewind-time approach, and if you do that then we get Loki et al back too.
The tease at the end was a reference to

Again, my thoughts exactly.
it’s the first avenger/superhero film i’ve watched, prob the last i’ll watch as well
To be fair, it's the culmination of like ten other films. That's a bit like watching the final episode of a cult TV show and wondering what all the fuss was about.
Watched it earlier. Was bound to like it and I did. It did a great job of combining the two 'sides' of the MCU and was funny and well-paced.
Only slight downer for me was some of the CGI (especially on Thanos at times).
Obviously the story needs some timey-wimey stuff to resolve itself in the second film (think this has been confirmed by reports from filming about 'period' costumes), and Captain Marvel is a given but it's entirely possible Adam Warlock won't feature as Guardians 3 is after Avengers 4?
What has Hawkeye been doing all this time (the Russos have hinted his story in all this is pretty important)?
Only slight downer for me was some of the CGI (especially on Thanos at times).
There were a few rough bits, aye.
And yeah,
Where is Hawkeye?
Worst CGI was at the end in the woods, Hulk looked painted on, Hawkeye is have some family time - apparently though maybe it has something to do with the reveal at the end
As I said earlier, I read the novels Thanos does not die, and if they keep to the story there are still some surprises to come.
To be fair, it’s the culmination of like ten other films.
If only it were the culmination. Unfortunately, they seem to be planning on making another 20 movies, hence the cliffhanger ending. I think I'll just stop watching now and assume that dead means dead.
