I've always been a "just socks" indoor kind of person, but recently I've come in a few times and left my outdoor shoes on.

Clearly this is unacceptable but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the concept of slippers.

So... barefoot, socks, slippers or shoes? What do you wear around the house?

(And let's not let this descend into a flame war between the sockists and the shoeists)

All of the above. In winter I'll just wear shoes, rest of the time it's mostly socks or bare feet/flipflops (weather dependant) but I do quite like my slippers but the dog has usually hidden one of them.

Sliders and socks is well on trend nowadays.

Don't call them sandals though, the kids don't like that apparently!!

Haflinger felt clogs.
Got a proper sole cork and rubber so I have the opposite dilemma.
Occasionally find myself in the supermarket with them on.

Harris Tweed slippers, barefoot if sitting around

In winter I'll just wear shoes

Why would you want to keep shoes on in the house?

Sandals? But I'd need socks too then?

Puffa jackets for feet, interesting. Do they come in gold?

one of the biggest things I had to adjust to when moving to Scandinavia was the religious taking off of shoes when you come in. it is like the most offensive thing you can do is keep your shoes on. Dinner parties, going to the doctors, even at my kids' daycare. It also means I can't wear odd socks anymore

alternative is these badboys, which are kept beside every door in public buildings.

The amount of bloody times I have walked to the car or cycled off with them on now is getting silly

[img] [/img]

mahabis are well nice. Goldie loves them

Flip flops 80 % of the time, slippers 20% and only when temperature of old wooden floors dictate that no sweating in slippers will occur..

Without a shadow of doubt the best indoor shoes are Haflingers, they have a grippy sole with an insulated base and are made from felt or leather. They are the kinds of hut slippers that you are given in Alpine huts. Not cheap but worth every penny.

Marks and Spencer slippers, firm sole, dark blue - no fluffiness to make your feet hot and they make you look like a man who means business e.g. you like comfort but not overt luxury, you like practical but not technical.

Nothing else is acceptable.

Those North Face things? Oh deary me....

You see, you say that now, but I challenge anyone to spend a winter evening walking around the house with a pair of what are essentially sleeping bags for your feet on, and not end up then asserting they are actually the best item of footwear yet devised by man

So there! 😛

that image makes me so depressed. "I'll be out in a minute dear just changing into my blue slacks and blue slippers" At least with Binners' bags and my Mahabi wearing Drum and Bass dj there is a vague sense of not slipping (SWIDT) slowly but irreversibly towards gods waiting room.

A whopping 16 quid from next.co.uk
And this may come as a surprise to the makers of Mahabis, but I can walk outside to put the bins out in them too :-0

i have a pair of them rossburton wife bought them for me one xmas. .... wife hates my crocs....

how ever i hate those things..... the dropped heel makes them a chuff to walk in keep falling down like flip flops.

That said since i covered the floor boards in the hall i rarely need to wear footwear in the house.

I'm 50, that's past middle aged. I don't need to pretend I'm young anymore and I like comfort.

And someone saying 'jeepers' whilst castigating people for wearing sippers is a bit off. We you born pretending to be an american?

Nuvola cheap off SportPursuit. Mine were £10 (and black) - you need a size up if you don't want the heels to squish like a pair of fabric crocs.
I only wear em in the morning for some reason, socks the rest of the time.
They do some nice woolly ones too.

Without going off topic, those words are synonyms for blasphemous words. Jeepers = Jesus. Crikey = Christ kill me.

Anyway, back on topic:

Ross Burton has it: Camper Wabi are the right answer (mine are green with orange and yellow camo soles).

Outdoors my garden slippers* are Crocs.

i wear fake five finger shoes from ebay. Like these original ones. And if it's cold, I've got some five finger socks as well. Really warm, and mean I've obviously not become old to wear slippers. The mid life crisis is doing well however.

I used to have the north face ones. They will smell if you're not careful...

TBH, they aren't even crocs, they are £4.99 copies from shoezone.

I wear a pair of croc-analogues, but they’re a bit cold for winter wear unless I wear really thick socks, and I have a really old pair of Merrell Winter Moccasins which are comfy and warm.
I’ve also got a couple of pairs of these Skinners ultralight footwear: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/skinners-revolutionary-ultraportable-footwear-shoes-design#/
They’re great in summer, I wore mine camping last year, and as soon as I get in my socks and shoes come off and my Skinners go on.

I've tried socks and slippers for the last hour and I thoroughly endorse this combination. It's revolutionary and could even extend the slipper wearing season beyond the dead of winter.

Quite like these - Dude Wally Sox Knit. Needs to be slip on, have a heel and not look like I've given up on life. I don't think I need foot sleeping bags, I live in the South and hence have heating rather than having to burn pasties on a stove to try and keep warm.

[img] [/img]

Quite like the Mahabis classic too. £80 though, I could buy some Rapha socks for that.

@MrBlobby, I reckon you might have bigger feet than me!

Thanks for all the help peeps.
