I've always been a "just socks" indoor kind of person, but recently I've come in a few times and left my outdoor shoes on.
Clearly this is unacceptable but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the concept of slippers.
So... barefoot, socks, slippers or shoes? What do you wear around the house?
(And let's not let this descend into a flame war between the sockists and the shoeists)
Sandals?
All of the above. In winter I'll just wear shoes, rest of the time it's mostly socks or bare feet/flipflops (weather dependant) but I do quite like my slippers but the dog has usually hidden one of them.
Slippers. Nothing better. Get some furry lined ones for best effect
Sliders and socks is well on trend nowadays.
Don't call them sandals though, the kids don't like that apparently!!
Haflinger felt clogs.
Got a proper sole cork and rubber so I have the opposite dilemma.
Occasionally find myself in the supermarket with them on.
Bare foot. Socks and shoes are prisons for your feet
#freethetoes
Harris Tweed slippers, barefoot if sitting around
In winter I'll just wear shoes
Why would you want to keep shoes on in the house?
Sandals? But I'd need socks too then?
Puffa jackets for feet, interesting. Do they come in gold?

This! Socks come off as soon as I get home.... and dont get me started on slippers.....
Its your lucky day beej....

I gather you don't have a kitchen with a stone floor then?
Sleeping bags for your feet are where its at if you do, I promise you!
one of the biggest things I had to adjust to when moving to Scandinavia was the religious taking off of shoes when you come in. it is like the most offensive thing you can do is keep your shoes on. Dinner parties, going to the doctors, even at my kids' daycare. It also means I can't wear odd socks anymore
alternative is these badboys, which are kept beside every door in public buildings.
The amount of bloody times I have walked to the car or cycled off with them on now is getting silly
mahabis are well nice. Goldie loves them
https://www.wellfitandfed.com/well/mahabis-why-is-this-crazy-european-slipper-taking-over/
Flip flops 80 % of the time, slippers 20% and only when temperature of old wooden floors dictate that no sweating in slippers will occur..
I gather you don't have a kitchen with a stone floor then?
No, but we have tiles in some areas... I quite like the cold feeling on my feet!
PERVERT!!!
feet should be toastie warm at all times
bare feet 99% of the time. My feet are always warm
slippers or croc-a-likes. maybe old pair of trainers for indoor use.
Try not to wear outdoor shoes/boots inside.
PERVERT!!!
Most probably! 😀
Haflinger felt clogs seconded and freelance approved
Socks ..anything else and my feet get to warm ..bare feet once warm enough
Those mahibis are so overpriced. The slippers ffs. I'd need goldies sort of money before spunking 80 quid on slippers 😯
mahabis are well nice
So they bloody should be!!
EIGHTY QUID FOR A PAIR OF SLIPPERS!!!!!! 😯
Slippers? I’m not my grandad yet!
Just socks, until it’s time to go out , or i’ve Just come back in
Without a shadow of doubt the best indoor shoes are Haflingers, they have a grippy sole with an insulated base and are made from felt or leather. They are the kinds of hut slippers that you are given in Alpine huts. Not cheap but worth every penny.
https://www.shoegarden.co.uk/collections/mens/haflinger?sort_by=created-descending
Marks and Spencer slippers, firm sole, dark blue - no fluffiness to make your feet hot and they make you look like a man who means business e.g. you like comfort but not overt luxury, you like practical but not technical.
Nothing else is acceptable.
Those North Face things? Oh deary me....
EIGHTY QUID FOR A PAIR OF SLIPPERS!!!!!!
Brexit. virtually free here 😆
Get over yourself and get down M&S...

Wearing a pair myself right now.
Those North Face things? Oh deary me....
You see, you say that now, but I challenge anyone to spend a winter evening walking around the house with a pair of what are essentially sleeping bags for your feet on, and not end up then asserting they are actually the best item of footwear yet devised by man
So there! 😛
Big socks & sandals fan, my indoor shoes are
Crocs.... and in winter.....crocs with socks. Just to piss binners off.
Wearing a pair myself right now.
And nothing else, right?
crocs with socks.
I've got their Peel Session on vinyl
that image makes me so depressed. "I'll be out in a minute dear just changing into my blue slacks and blue slippers" At least with Binners' bags and my Mahabi wearing Drum and Bass dj there is a vague sense of not slipping (SWIDT) slowly but irreversibly towards gods waiting room.
I gather you don't have a kitchen with a stone floor then?
You’ve just got soft feet from wearing those puffa slippers on them 😉

Check me out, I've got orange inners in mine I'm so rad (-;
A whopping 16 quid from next.co.uk
And this may come as a surprise to the makers of Mahabis, but I can walk outside to put the bins out in them too :-0
Wearing a pair myself right now.And nothing else, right?
Have I left my webcam switched on again?
i have a pair of them rossburton wife bought them for me one xmas. .... wife hates my crocs....
how ever i hate those things..... the dropped heel makes them a chuff to walk in keep falling down like flip flops.
That said since i covered the floor boards in the hall i rarely need to wear footwear in the house.
Flame away!
I have had a pair of Ugg mules for around 10 years, comfy as hell, lots of bald patches in the sheepskin, and smell so bad the dog doesn’t even go near them
Ps they were a present
Slippers? Slippers?
Jeepers were you all born middleaged?
Jeepers were you all born middleaged?
I'm 50, that's past middle aged. I don't need to pretend I'm young anymore and I like comfort.
And someone saying 'jeepers' whilst castigating people for wearing sippers is a bit off. We you born pretending to be an american?
Jeepers in not American. I like archaic non sweary swearywords. Crikey, jeepers, piffle, jings, help ma boab. cor blimey etc
Beej, let me know when you have a pair so I can pop round and try them on for size 🙂
Actually looking for some new slippers after a putoline accident in the shed the other day 😳
TNF traction mules better than tent mules imo. Rubber sole so can pop outside in them.
It makes you sound middle ages at best
It makes you sound middle ages at best
I was thinking it sounded like a minor Scooby Doo character.
If I’d known you were all this bad I’d have started a what’s your favourite boiled sweet thread ages ago
Thread has come at the perfect time for me. Stupid foot has developped a mortons neuroma thingy and barefoot is agony. As sommeone who went 9months without wearing shoes once and believes the Skandi no shoes in the house thing should be law this is a problem. Some good options here.
Middlage rocks 🙁
Middle age rocks 🙁
You are doing it wrong.

Without going off topic, those words are synonyms for blasphemous words. Jeepers = Jesus. Crikey = Christ kill me.
Anyway, back on topic:
Ross Burton has it: Camper Wabi are the right answer (mine are green with orange and yellow camo soles).
Outdoors my garden slippers* are Crocs.
* (c) someone off here
Camper Wabi
£40?! Pah! At least with the Mahabis you can pretend you're as cool as Goldie.
flipflops or big sheepskin lined slippers 🙂 but mainly flipflops.
i wear fake five finger shoes from ebay. Like these original ones. And if it's cold, I've got some five finger socks as well. Really warm, and mean I've obviously not become old to wear slippers. The mid life crisis is doing well however.
I used to have the north face ones. They will smell if you're not careful...
You are doing it wrong.
I suspect you are right. But I seem to be paying for doing it right in my 20s and 30s and wearing bits of my body out.
They will smell if you're not careful...
Careful with what, your aim? 🙂

Couldn't possibly comment. 😆

Got a pair for Christmas and had toasty feet since
Moccasin slippers, fur lined, plastic sole for nipping out to the log store.
Sorted.
Socks and slippers?
hmmm... interesting. I'll report back later on my findings.
I wear crocs in the house, and for taking the bins out etc duties. With and without socks.
TBH, they aren't even crocs, they are £4.99 copies from shoezone.
Flame away 8)
North Face tent mules here too - perfect if you work at home all day.
Socks and slippers?
Of course.
The slippers get all sweaty and stinky otherwise.
I wear a pair of croc-analogues, but they’re a bit cold for winter wear unless I wear really thick socks, and I have a really old pair of Merrell Winter Moccasins which are comfy and warm.
I’ve also got a couple of pairs of these Skinners ultralight footwear: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/skinners-revolutionary-ultraportable-footwear-shoes-design#/
They’re great in summer, I wore mine camping last year, and as soon as I get in my socks and shoes come off and my Skinners go on.
I've tried socks and slippers for the last hour and I thoroughly endorse this combination. It's revolutionary and could even extend the slipper wearing season beyond the dead of winter.
Quite like these - Dude Wally Sox Knit. Needs to be slip on, have a heel and not look like I've given up on life. I don't think I need foot sleeping bags, I live in the South and hence have heating rather than having to burn pasties on a stove to try and keep warm.
Quite like the Mahabis classic too. £80 though, I could buy some Rapha socks for that.
@MrBlobby, I reckon you might have bigger feet than me!
Thanks for all the help peeps.
