My son is really enjoying his Sunday morning climbing at the climbing centre and so it seems silly to keep hiring shoes. He is growing fast though which means I don't want to buy proper expensive kit yet (currently adult size 8). Are decathlon shoes ok or are there other better respected budget brands?
Whichever cheapish unlined ones are on offer. Got them with socks then they'll last longer.
Decathlon are good, there are other cheapish brands such as mad rock. As above, if he wears them with socks to start with he'll get longer out of them. Don't be tempted to buy them too tight, it will make little difference to his performance.
Good footwork is much more important than shoe brand (up to a level) so unless he’s already pushing the grades then Decathlon ones will be more than good enough.
Yep, my daughter is wearing decathlon ones; seem to be fairly robust and more than adequate for a beginner.
ask at the centre - people must be selling on their kids' shoes
We have decathlon kids ones, they are ok, but not as good quality as the hire ones can be (not everywhere has hire ones in little sizes though).
Online, I have used rockrun.com for a few things, but climbing shoes sizing is weird.
See what go outdoors have, you can try them on there & they price match. That's how I got my 5-tens.
