Because I am currently barred from pretty much any exercise, I have been growing squirrel-ly and fat. So after drinking yet another beer and needing to void my bladder, I ran up the stairs, and it didn’t hurt.
So today, I ran up the stairs, then did it again. And again. Until I had done it for about 12 minutes.
Holy smokes!!! My thighs are burning, and my heart was racing!
So now I have stretched, and plan on doing it for 15 minutes tomorrow.
Who knew? It’s free, and right in front of me, and doesn’t hurt my back.
Hello, health!
While I’m at it, does anyone know how running stairs relates to bike fitness?

Probably very little, by this evidence!
currently sat in bungalow, getting fat
You need one of these.

I just spent 10 weeks on a ship with 7 decks and was up and down them all day - as well as my usual regime of rowing and weights. I felt like I was on an ebike when I got home and had my first ride.
The gym I used to go to had a stair-climber machine - no-one used it because it was too-brutal - it was like a continual escalator and the the higher the setting the lower the resistance, so you had to maintain a high cadence / running pace. I found it better than an exercise bike for bike fitness as it really worked my quads and core
Mate, do you want some bike rollers? Not sure what you are banned from, but there's also kettle bells to consider.
After a long ride I hate all stairs so they must use the same muscle groups.
@molgrips: I will happily take your rollers if you're serious. Why don't you come 'round for a coffee, and I'll tell you more about my banning!
Cycling is good for going up stair, not so good for coming back down. I always find when ever I got to walk up and munro or a corbett, I usually get into my stride going up the hill, but coming back down is brutal.
Ultra distance nutter John Stamstad famously used stairs in his training. And Pop Tarts. And doughnuts. Mmmmmmm.
Mentioned a long way down this article

Same as hill reps. Up sand dunes if you're mad.

I am serious, and I have been meaning to make a social rather than biking call.
