With Ebay upping final value fees so much (trebling them on a £300 item) maybe we should all be looking to buy STW a pint or two following a succesful transaction on here? I'm off to do just that after a few decent buys and sells on here recently.

From Ebay:

the final value fee for fixed price listings (Buy It Now) will be changed to a flat rate of 10%, up to a maximum £40. This new flat fee replaces the current tiered structure, making it simpler and easier for you to calculate up-front the fees you’ll pay. As before, you won’t pay any final value fee if your items don’t sell. The new calculations only apply to items listed or scheduled to start on or after the 21 July 2011.

Unfortunately its still worth it. I failed to sell a rucksack for a tenner, just sold on ebay for twice that.

Agrees with Nick - what is the alternative to Ebay getting a bigger cut of the money you make by selling the shit you don't want? Not being able to sell the shit you don't want.

I once sold a fish tank that I didn't think was worth anything and very nearly took to the tip.

Instead I stuck it up with a 1p starting price and collection only - I got £50 for it and I didn't even have to lug it down to the tip.

I kind of agree with Nick as well. It does depend what you're selling but auctions obviously work best when theres a lot of people watching them, and ebay has the biggest audience so gets the best prices.
