Forgot how good these are. Away in the hills with the kids and cooked up all our meals on twigs found along the way, plus some marshmallow toasting. Also find it easier to cook stuff without burning.

have something similar (different brand) and agreed - it's a nice way to cook. If I want a lightweight simple life its meths, but the process/ritual of cooking with twigs is lovely.
Question for you and other users of similar or kelly kettles etc - how do you feel about using in areas (like the cairngorms) with campfire and BBQ bans? It's obviously not a campfire, but it is a fire.......Any more of a risk than a traditional gas stove or meths which is OK (if used responsibly) - I'm thinking yes, but not by much.....
My kids love using both the ghillie kettle and solo stove and will run around colluding fuel. I fund it is a non stop job feeding the right size(small) twigs in to keep it going so proper cooking is a bit involved!
I have a similar small woo gas stove. For me it s a no where there's a fire ban, though as you say the constant feeding/managing means it's not a big or open fire that left unattended.
Top tip is to always carry a small bundle of twigs tucked inside the Kelly kettle. I keep mine on a tiny stuff sack and it's very light
Once it's up and running, collect some more while waiting to boil. No more twig stress

It does look that way. If you're suitably cautious they can be safe enough in use but the danger arises when you want to pack it up and move on. Every ember should be fully extinguished and cool and it's likely a few users won't be thorough enough. Alcohol or jetboil types don't have the eco feel of a burner running on twigs but at least you can be pretty sure not to be leaving a source of ignition behind.
