It's about time they did something about it, to be fair.
They tried charging me £350 for damage. When I asked what the damage was (there wasn't any), nobody could provide any details. Out of the blue about two weeks later my credit card was refunded 'as a gesture of goodwill'. Chancers.
I did a one-way hire through EuropCar a while ago, dropped the car off and they immediately tried to charge for scuffed wheels. It was only when I showed them photos of the damage taken when I'd picked the car up and insisted they phoned the pick-up branch to verify that the car was in that condition at the start of the hire that they dropped the charges.
I just assumed it was a regular scam; hire out something that's got some superficial damage, claim it was caused by the hirer and charge them.
