There is NO way we're driving to the Alps without plugging the kids into endless Star Wars films in the back of the van!

We've had a double set from Halfords for years but they've died now. As the kids are older we're looking at 2 single players so they can watch their own things.

So far I've found a Bush 7 inch screen thing on Argos, a Nextbase 7 inch one from Halfords and a Logik one with a 9 inch screen. The first two are screens with the disc behind while the Logik one is more of a laptop style thing where the screen can rotate. It says it comes with a seatrest mount but I can't find any photos of how this works.

Any views on what is good? The logik things are half price at the moment so are £50 each rather than £100. The price and screen size is turning my head at the mo but I can't work out if the mounting will be any good.

Cheers

We had Nextbase ones but use tablets nowadays.

They have some films on SD card and download a few from Amazon to view offline for a couple of days.

Why don't you want to use tablets?

luddite.

Couple of tablets.  it's not 2004.

You can play games, read, watch videos and use them unplugged.

Nah, the kid's tablets are full of games and don’t have SD slots.

We have a room full of DVDs that they want to watch so buying them again to download doesn’t make any sense.

New tablets and/or data for Netflix will be far more expensive than £50 for a player.

I’ve found something now anyway. 😃

In the same boat myself as our portable DVD player has had it. If you have DVDs can't you rip them onto a desktop and then download back to an SD card to use in a tablet?

Which DVD player did you go for lister? This one looks OK;

Curve ball suggestion. Rip DVDs you own to a large external hd. Have this in the van with an in car WiFi point and get the kids to play the media on their tablet from the hd.

Tablet screens tend to be way better than the frap found on cheap in car dvd players.
