Sublime. Your favourite?

Out of the blue. I love the violin on the varied live performances.

Was anything more louche than Ferry singing ‘Ladytron’? 😑

Phil Manazanera’s compound-eye glitterspex? Based af! 🤩

@p7eaven

Had to Google the definition of louche, new word for me. An excellent one for Bryan Ferry and his performances.

Just realised Ladytron was just under half a century ago. 😳

First band I ever saw live, Bristol Colston Hall, early 70s. Still like their stuff.

I saw them at the Albert Hall in 1974 and then again at Wembley Arena in 1975. I've always liked them and have some of their vinyl stored away somewhere.

As an aside I sometimes cycle past Phil Manzanera's old house (and studios). It's art deco and hs been used in the filming of Poirot.

Like.

Isn't he a bit right wing tho, or is that his son?

I love the complete change of mood and style not over an album, but within a single track

Mother of Pearl

A lot to choose from. I'm a fan of Amanda Lear on For Your Pleasure.

Also
If there is something.

Used at the the end of Flashbacks of a Fool which made me burst out laughing when I saw the tractor but blew me away after a dull movie. Played it repeatedly for weeks afterwards.

First band I ever saw live,

Me too. Glasgow Apollo 1980 the Flesh and Blood tour.

Part of the appeal of Roxy was that they seemed to come from a different place than all other rock bands. A place where there were cocktail parties every night full of glamorous women and all the guys looked like Bryan Ferry.

I'll vote for Avalon as favorite track as it was playing in the club when I had my first slow dance with the girl who was to become my wife.

Got to be Same Old Scene for me

+1

The Glimmers' remix is one of my favourite tracks evs, would love to hear it in a club setting - ideally somewhere outdoors and Balearic at dawn...

Was going to suggest the Glimmers remix. Top choon. Saw them at Manchester Arena early 2000s. All I remember is what a completely crap place to watch a band.😀

Never been there, but I used to go past it twice a day getting the train at Victoria - and I'm definitely gonna stick with the Balearics.

Have you heard their Fabric mix? It's brill.

Early Roxy (with ENO) for me.

Read a book about them making the first album. Bryan sat down and showed them their individual parts to play... first album is genius. I’d guess I’d have to go for if there is something as fave track off that.

The Bogus Man runs it a close second for, sounds decidedly krautrock to my ears (my ears!).

Always have time for mother of Pearl and in every house a heartbreak though...

They played the Neeld Hall in Chippenham, back when Virginia Plain came out, my then g/f wasn’t that interested, so I didn’t bother going.

I did the same when The Smiths, The Waterboys and King Crimson played Golddiggers in town as well.
