Give me a crisp frosty Xmas run up, rather than this pile of windy pish. Really struggling to get into the mood when it's grey and gale force winds.

...and to snow this is not a completely moany post, here are some CRC vouchers:

Hmmm. It is pretty windy on the fenny flatlands at the moment!
Seems to have been for a fortnight or so. I went out last weekend and gave up after 7 miles having been blown all over the place; decided that random , uncontrollable sideways movements of up to 2ft of so weren't very safe!

Perfect snowdrift* weather though.

*even though the OP never mentioned snow.

I think you're missing something for that, not sure what that is.

No chance of snow here, 16C 5mph winds and blue skies.
Not sure if that helps though.

The song is someone reminiscing of a snowy Christmas.

I never said you mentioned snow but I do agree frosty winters are better than the mild ones.

According to Wikipedia:

"White Christmas" is an Irving Berlin song reminiscing about an old-fashioned Christmas setting.

This mornings ride in was 'spirited' to say the least, and I was pretty much alone out there commuting, almost unique, kind of like a sn..

Almost!

It is true that I no longer have snow in the garden. However, it is but a short bike ride away.

I believe the line:

To hear sleigh bells in the snow

As Christmas is located between September and April, its safe to assume that in the North West of England, the sky will be a blanket monotone grey, it'll probably be blowing a gale, and the constant drizzly rain will be horizontal

I'm really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, bored of this ****ing weather now! 😥

Binners, your only option is to move.

Its not the weather in the North that's grey and dreary all the time, it's just northerners make it feel that way 😉

It is a well known fact that northerners can alter the weather.

All that dourness has to go somewhere.

We actually had a decent summer of dry dusty trails and warm sunny evening rides. Like this....

[img] [/img]

But in a 'there really is no pleasing some people' stylee, this seems to have made the recent rain-lashed bog-fest even worse 😥

I used to Windsurf. I'd have loved today.
As it turned out I commuted into the face of the gusts on my bloody high bouncy bike wishing for something a little narrower than 740mm bars and a less stupidly upright body position.
Bet it isn't blowing that well on the way back when it would be useful...
