Do you know any?
I know a few english here in north wales
YES!! Very nice folks they are, too. 🙂
Loads, why?
I am one. So, yes.
The vast majority of my friends who I spend time with are western European immigrants. I tend to find their lifestyle is much closer to mine when it comes to sport and socializing.
My parents, why, what do you want me to ask them?
I am legal in GeordieLand.
I will invade the South with my GeordieLand zombie force to rid all those Southern invaders. Freedom!!!
Yep I know some economic migrants. Don't know any refuges or asylum seekers though, well do know some southerners that have escaped to the north.
i am one of them...

Why do you think? He's being 'controversial'.
Have you not noticed how he starts a thread without given any of his own opinions just fires a question or drops a thought then waits for the thread to snowball. If it slows down he pop back in again and set it off with some random copy and pasting.
Yes, he is "controversial". Might be confused or perhaps a zombie. 😆
I like feeding zombie trolls.
I thought it was a simple question but these days you never know. Either way we could all do with knowing.
Personal I'd prefer thread to have started with "now I'm n........"
I'm an immigrant and economic migrant. I know other immigrants too.

I had kinda guessed that 😉 .
My dad got me to cut his lawn today - bloody work shy scroungers, coming over here etc etc etc
No, i do my own cleaning
Why do you think? He's being 'controversial'.
Is that polite way of saying that he is an obnoxious troll?
My sister is an immigrant: English, but living in Scotland.

He is probably getting a semi that you noticed tbh
Its not important whether it is good or bad just that he is noticed.
Never met him he is down south so unlikely to.
I bet he is almost normal in real life 😀
Me in Scotland
I teach quite a lot of 1st/2nd/3rd/whatever generation immigrants, from (off the top of my head) Bangladesh, Romania, Hong Kong, Nepal, Czechoslovakia, Poland. Probably more too, but we don't tend to notice the white immigrants once they've lost their accent.
As I said on another thread, most of us will have a non-UK ancestor in our relatively recent past. I've an Irish surname, though that's from a good few generations back, and I'm as Italian as I am Irish because that particular immigrant married an Italian dancer. I'm more Scottish, with a maternal grandad born in Scotland, but that didn't stop my sister who moved up their getting grief off a woman on the train because she was Scottish.
As Stewart Lee observed, the current 'scary' lot of immigrants from Bulgaria and Romania are just the successors to those from Poland, ****stan, the West Indies, the Irish, ..., Anglo-Saxons, Beaker folk, Neanderthals, fish coming over here and forming an integral part of our life, society, diet and culture.
I'm a refugee.
We have a couple for neighbours.
They are noisy and eat our food.

My mum. Next door neighbours. [s]Four[/s] actually come to think of it seven colleagues.
They all speak english as second (or third or fourth!) language and still have nationality of origin as opposed to being British.
Is it still true that there are as more british expats overseas resolutley refusing to learn the local language than there are non-english speaking migrants in the UK? 😀
Yep. And?
Yes me.
My family came across from Scandinavia via York many years ago. We never really formally applied to be nationlised.

Just waited for the French Normans to charge in and legitimise the process... 😉
Work for a large multinational in Newcastle- plenty of people from all over in the office, even some Mackems.
We'd go out of business if it weren't for our thousands of immigrants. For some reason the government keeps making it harder for them to get into the country though, why is that? Ah yeah it's because they're shitebags pandering to an agenda of ignorance, fear and racism.
I know some but they're all in prison.
Actually they probably aren't immigrants but their parents were/are.
Yep, pretty much everyone I know
My ancestors came over with the Norman conquest, apparently. Unfortunately their offspring failed to remember their original language and as a consequence my linguistic skills are confined to bits of Broad Yorkshire - actually quite useful when talking to the local farmers! 🙂
Loads!! Do you?
Someone keeps stealing my Daily Mail. Must be immigrants. Or the gays.
Yep: the other half is and I assume my kids are 2nd generation? I've just been having a go at the UK citizen test: I defy anyone born in the UK to pass it without studying.
My own lineage is northern/Scottish/Scandinavian/Norman/Anglo Saxon/roman/Celtic/Neanderthal sort of mix. Repatriate me!
I met an awful lot of immigrants through work (NHS),they were mostly hard working, very nice people, using their skills for our mutual benefit, and the NHS would struggle without them. There were some ignorant workshy scroungers, but the Welsh and Scots are like that IMHO.
P.S. poor troll even by Woppit standards
I'm from Liverpool but live in Yorkshire. Do I count?
My great granddad was an immigrant from Italy.
They walked here 😯
I know a couple of recent immigrants too, splendid chaps actually. I welcome them as long as they are going to work and contribute and not sponge.
speckledbob- Yes,get back to your own country.

You welcome them, but you will also jump right in with the daily wail stereotype 🙄
I know and have worked with loads of immigrants - a couple of Hungarians, a Norwegian, a Swede, an American, a couple of New Zealanders, a Russian, a couple of Poles, a Brazilian, a couple of Portugal, a Spaniard, a Belgian, a French guy, a German, an Indian and a guy from Hong Kong. It's ace talking to people from other countries.
Yep
Work with a good few and they are great lads.
Why you asking?
A couple of our customers are Kiwis. They are now British having done all the tests.
He supported France against us in the rugby.
Thats's really not on is it?
I don't see why not,the Scots and Welsh do it so it must be British (I assume you are referring to the English rugby team, not the victorious Irish,or the Welsh,or the Scots.......)
Got me thinking and it seems I know quite a few from nearly as many countries including
Wales
Ireland
France
Germany
Denmark
Sweden
Poland
Latvia
Lithuania
USA
New Zealand
India
****stan
Spain
Portugal
Iran
Slovakia
Scotland
South Africa
And probably quite a few other countries I can't think of right now
Thing is ..... It doesn't matter
I am one here, when we were in the UK the missus was one there. UKIP never hounded us out, the BNP left us nice leaflets warning about immigrants and all that.
Me, my mrs and about half of my mates are or have been immigrants.
Nice 'Woppit Bomb' here

I guess so, we ended up with a castle up North somewhere paid for by benefits, nice if them to let us have it. Even now the government helps to keep the family burial plot up to standard in a nice spot in the city. I don't contribute a penny.
Me, I live in Spain. Now mainly working with Spanish, but a couple of years ago I was with Argentines, Mexicans, Venezuelans and Cubans, as well as Spanish.
I know this one immigrant, he does sod all every day, you can't understand a bloody word he says, eats his disgusting food and just spends the whole work day surfing the net...
Are sure we ave met?
I met a bloke in the pub the other day called Ford Prefect, he was from Beetlegeuse, seemed a nice sort.
We got talking about this other mob the Vogons I think he called them. I don't like the sound of them. Coming over here in their yellow spaceships demolising the Earth to make way for an inergalactic bypass.
Still at least they know how to build roads. Not like the Gypsies the thieving bstrds
My grandfather was German, my old man lives in Kuala Lumpur - Contracts Manager for Siemens upgrading the rail network, I have a half Chinese half sister and a half Filipino half sister, a Filipino nephew, as well as a half sister on my mothers side, who has some of the Geerman blood.
People come, people go, all over the world - that is not an issue. I do strongly believe that to permanently enter a country's borders though, you should bring something to the table - if I were to move to another country, I'd take my skillset, actively look for work (probably before I went) and attempt to learn the language (before I went). I'd expect anyone coming here to do the same - if they do, fine, if they aren't willing, then sorry - we are full.
My grandfather came here to escape the regime of some bloke called Adolf and when here taught English at Sheffield Polytechnic.
I'm an economic migrant. My boy's child care is courtesy of a transylvanian lesbian...& his fave "aunties" are Romanian/italian. Bella.....Chow ,and all that... 😀
Has woppit even commented since starting the the thread? Now that's trolling!
I'm an immigrant. Woooooo!
Yes. Me and Mrs O. What of it?
I was born in Laaandon but live in Lancashire so I guess I'm an immigrant.
I bet he is almost normal in real life
I've seen no evidence to support that 😉
Has woppit even commented since starting the the thread? Now that's trolling!
Although I suspect the thread has gone in the opposite direction to which he intended.
Basically, we all quite like the immigrants.
'morning.
My lot are from Denmark. Came over in the fifth century CE.
I've been to Denmark. Bloody boring. Hope they don't send me back!
Whoever "they" are...
if I were to move to another country...
When you have the get up and go to do it instead of just talking about what you would do, let us know!
I'm descended from a distinguished line of viking rapists and pillagers. Although obviously, I'm about 40 odd generations removed?!
The wife's an immigrant. Which is a right ballache sometimes.
When you have the get up and go to do it instead of just talking about what you would do, let us kno
Eh? WTF is that supposed to mean?
taught English at Sheffield Polytechnic.
So in other words, he was an unskilled sponge. 😈
I've been to Denmark. Bloody boring.
A troll within a troll, where does this all end?
Eh? WTF is that supposed to mean?
It means it's easy to be sanctimonious from your armchair.
Easier than chucking a shitty comment into a thread without even attempting to contribute anything worthwhile?
I'm an emigrant, if that helps?
Although I suspect the thread has gone in the opposite direction to which he intended.Basically, we all quite like the immigrants.
I suspect it has gone exactly the way he intended.
