2001 is pretty much my all time favourite film (tie between that and Clockwork Orange with one or two other candidates).

p.s. the new 70mm print is interesting in that it's "unrestored".

I read this as well but am not sure what that will mean in terms of the viewing experience. I am going to find out however as I have tickets!

2010 is brilliant and much underrated imo.

2001 is my favourite film set in space. From the cold, murderous logic of Hal to the melding of music and motion and all the weird little details and scenes that hold it all together.

One of the little things that gets me in that film is the wonderful mini scene with the stewardess entering the cabin of the shuttle by walking round its 'spinning' walls and walking through the door upside down at the top. I think it's supposed be the ship turning while she stands effectively still but others may see it differently.

Was watching an old'ish Dr Who last night (Matt Smith era) and there were security robots that the Doctor took out with the sonic screwdriver.  As they shut down they said in slow motion  "daisy, daisy, give me your answer do."

garage-dweller - it's to show the zero gravity in space.  Immediately before she does that, there's a close up of her slippers and you see that both the slippers and the carpet are made of velcro.

I think 2010 is better than 2001 tbh!
