Are there any apps that work like Flightradar24 or that marine one, only for trains?

I sometimes take a breather next to the east coast mainline when I'm out on the bike & watch what's going past. It would be nice to see what's approaching without knowing the origin or destination.
Ta!

You can filter freight on that but you have to search by area - I use it to see what's going near me.

Do any of these sites have a way to show a specific engine type and its current and projected movements?

Like the OP, I'm not a trainspotter* but I'm obsessed with Class 37s.

*OK, I suppose I maybe am.

Yes is there erm a way of theoretically kinda searching for Class 66s? Just asking for a friend.

My friend says he'd really like to search plate names too but he's just weird.

Codybrennan - if you find a specific working on rail-record then, if someone has spotted it, it will tell you what loco is doing the working.

I use RTT sometimes, mainly when I know theres something special coming down my valley so I can find out when its due (they're inevitably late but it means I'm not stood waiting for a train for ages thats still in Manchester).

Don't know if I'm missing something here, but showing no trains in North and East Yorkshire? Whenever I've been to York station there's always a lot of trains coming and going.
Or do I need to register for an account to be able to actually see everything?

Traksy.uk has diagrammatic maps with trains shown on them; it includes freight trains which raildar doesn't as far as I can tell.

Yes, weird, no trains north of Harrogate.

Isn’t that the part of the map marked ‘Here Be Dragons’?

Thanks for the link to Traksy.

Watched the daily stinky bitumen tanker train coming over from East Lancs direction and then had a liason with it on the pedal into work. Didn't seem to load any train details, but liking the appropriately satanic id number of 666y 🙂

That's because there is nothing north of Yorkshire until Scotland...nothing worth visiting, seeing or doing anyway 😉

London Underground Trains:

https://traintimes.org.uk/map/tube/

For a specific location I use RealTimeTrains which gives a nice list:

Here's Stirling:

https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/detailed/STG?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt

Worth keeping an eye on RailAdvent for news on mainline steam trains.

Is RTT available as an Android app? Can't see it in the app store.

When I’m out and about looking at/for passing trains in a definitely not a trainspotter way, I type in real time trains advanced into google, this brings up the part of RTT that has the goods trains on. It takes a bit of practice to work out what’s running and what’s just a timetabled slot etc but it’s pretty good.
