The name's Wayne, heywayne - nice to meet you.

I've been a fair-weather cyclist for about the last 10 years on and off.

At my last house we had a great expanse of open fields and rolling singletracks at our disposal and I used to hop on the bike (a Giant Boulder AluLight at the time) and disappear off for an hour or so to unwind at the end of a day.

That bike was then stolen and I progressed onto a Trek 4300 and discovered front suss. Bliss.

A combination of moving house and having a child meant that time and ability to ride were curtailed for a while. Then last year I took part in the BHF L2B. I re-caught the bug.

Took part again this year and sold my Trek to my bro-in-law and bought a Specialized Rockhopper from a dude at work (also a member here I believe, but I'll come to that) so that we could both take part.

Most of our training was on road, but when the weather picked up we ventured off road and I rediscovered why I used to love single track so much!

Anyhoo - as mentioned a fellow colleague mentioned signing up on here, so I'm off to have a look round and post my wanted ad.

Looking forward to picking up some hints and tips and general hoo-ha.

Until then...

Would it be brash of me to say I have 24? At least I think that's how many there are. One loses count after a while...

OK then heywayne - what's your real name? Who were you before on here? Your introduction stinks of fish.

Remove 23 of them, add some clown wheels to the mix and then your a common STW'er.

Sorry about all the smell - I have a thing for anchovies.

My real name is unpronouncable in an English dialect, and I have been many things before now on my way to Nirvana*.

*I actually prefer Pearl Jam, but for the sake of artistic lent.

and a beard

welcome :-), you need to know 2 phrases
"own him/her/it with a pair of bombers" which means a violent rebuttal of an action or point of view
"wee in his/her/its shoes" which is a time delayed punishment for an offence, however slight, taken

Only if you promise to groom him, feed him and clean out his cage.

5ft 19 in my stockinged feet - which are only hairy on the underside thankfully, else flipflops would be a nightmare.

Quite honestly anything that can suck an orange through a drinking straw works for me.
