It's pouring with rain, I'm cold, but I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be, but I'm not sure why I like it. It doesn't make sense. I have plenty of beer and wine, so maybe that has something to do with it.

WTF are you that's cold? I can see why the beer & wine would help.

It not be really that cold, I'm just a bit wet, so it feels a bit chilly. I'm just outside Newbury.

There is quite an aggressive looking mole sitting right by the tent. I don't think he wants to make friends.

You need to get over to twitter and hear about Bullheart's spider.

I'm sat in the garden in my pants, it's so hot here in the Cambridge Alps....

Also have beer and wine, anyone for 200 bottles of Peroni, 5 litres of Gin and 50 litres of tonic?

Yep, best I could find was £1.05 / bottle from Ocado...

1 to 10 G&T ratio? You Pansy!

We're expecting the teetotalers to just drink tonic, and the drinkers to take the Gin neat....

Ok, I'm Swampy. There is no way they are going to build the by-pass on my watch. If anyone can help me out by popping my giro in the post, it would be appreciated.

Newbury has higher levels of traffic now than before the bypass was built though doesn't it?

Still, who's going to care in a hundred years.

I went to Newbury once or twice for the air show at Greenham Common. Full of hippies in tents back then.

TBH you can't tell in the town, traffic's back up to original levels- only surprise was it took even less time than everyone said. Ah well.

True, but that was nearly 20 years ago. Imagine what it would be like if they hadn't built the by-pass.

Apparently the average traffic increase across the country is 5%, theirs has been 50%. Not sure if it'd have gone higher without it, traffic tends to go up to capacity then people avoid the area, building new roads attracts more traffic. Who knows really? The predictions that justified the road were all total pish, that much we do know. A shame.

A price worth paying when the alternative is being 1m 30sec slower to you destination than any sensible alternative*

*alternatives that involve notable physical efforts don't count as sensible

Careful now, noise travels on campsites.

Spooning works well.

Unintended consequences re the Nrwbury Bypass I reckon. Now that there's a big new road there, it means you can use it to link up with the M4. That traffic would nit have gone that way otherwise. So the new road drew in loads of new traffic. town centre is still a massive bottleneck though, it would need a bypass east-west too.
