I appreciate this has a huge number of factors from where you live, what you drive and how badass you are at speeding but my renewal has actually gone down even after a non fault claim.

1 yr old 20k ish motor including hire car and legal protection, 200 whole pounds and 48 pence. Very happy with that!!!

Get waving!

Mine varies a lot from car to car depending on which ones are insured for my daughter and which ones aren't. That means that our sportiest car is our cheapest to insure (as my daughter isn't on that one) and the car that's the lowest insurance group is the most expensive - because that's the one my daughter is the main driver on.

So ours:

Mercedes SLK: £212

Fiesta (125hp 1.0l): £463

Mazda CX-7: £308

Mercedes A180: £378

We had a no fault accident (neighbour reversed into the CX-7 when it was parked) about a year back and that increased all our policies by about £50. I'd have been cheaper just getting the minor bump repaired myself given that hit will last for a few years!

I'm 22 years old, insuring a 170bph kit car (GTM K3) for £225pa fully comp, including European breakdown cover! Would have been £30 cheaper without it!

I’ll never beat my uncle who got a limited miles quote on a 70s VW camper a few years ago.  The initial quote was £56, which he was more than happy with and went for, there was then a pause on the other end of the phone as the agent set it up, and he was then told that for signing up straight away he got £60 cash back.

Dunno - my wife works in insurance and I haven't had to deal with it for 25+ years!

£411 for a 1.6 mk2 ford focus (5 years no claims but a young 23). Annoyingly was £360 last year but couldn't find anything in that ballpark this time round.

I remember paying around 2k for my first year's insurance, but then again I was 17 in a Vauxhall Corsa. I think that was also the last year they could discriminate on gender, it was around 1k for a girl with the same quote.

Making me jealous 32 years old, 2 years no claims, 2004 Honda Accord 2.0 Executive Estate lowest I could get was £740 Full comprehensive.

If it ever got lower than £500 I would be happy.

Whenever car insurance is discussed on here, there are always people who say they ‘got cashback’ which made it even cheaper. What is this?

Anyway, usually around £300. Ancient VW.

Just to make people feel a bit better...£1030 for a 1.6 MK6 Fiesta.

However I've been driving for 2 months (passed my test the end of Jan), and have two motorcycle accidents that I have to declare.

£190 XLWB sprinter.

almost makes me feel better about the £3k for the gearbox clutch and flywheel I had to pay the same week. I think that’s prob the least I’ve ever paid for insurance in 25 years and the most for a garage bill.

apparently the most ****ed gearbox they’ed ever seen on a vehicle that had managed to drive in 😀

Should we add postcode too?

700 quid comp on the Jaaag with business use.

200 quid comp on the Mazda.

But as a percentage of purchase price, they're about the same.

Last renewal was ~£900 but due again in May.

23 years old with a 2010 Octavia vRS and a modified classic mini on a multicar policy.

I was quite pleased actually, considering the mods declared.

I’m old with no claims or convictions, pay my bills on time and the areas ok with very few dodgy types randomly braking on roundabouts.

So two average cars, both less than anyones posted so far.

£0 for the work Golf, I dread to think what their bill is for 150 sales reps

£360 for 1.9tdi T5 on limited mileage, about to renew and dreading what it will be this year as the £360 with Flux was less than half what elsewhere were quoting.

what is it with car insurance these days? Am I just getting old and therefore low bills? I'm sure a couple of years ago even with a completely clean driving record it was heading up into the £400+ and all of a sudden the last 2 years it's dropped to low £200s. Almost seems like good value now. Is there a price war on or did they just manage to stop all those dodgy claims? Benefit of Brexit? (JOKING DON'T TAKE SERIOUSLY)

£540 for a 2.0l diesel Octavia at 23. Only a couple of years no claims though because of a named driver having an accident in a previous car. Not too bad.

This^, I've definitely noticed a decrease. I've never had a policy go down year upon year before. It's aleays crept up a little bit due to whatever bullshit they come up with.

This year more of a surprise than any as the car was arse ended back in August.

I hadn't been driving for a few years so my No Claims ran out so it cost me £360 for my VW Golf R which I was more than happy with. It's going be Stage 2+ re-mapped at some point so it won't get much cheaper I guess. Doesn't bother me in the slightest as it is my toy and I love it. Best car I've ever owned by far.

Fiesta Driving school policy about £450

Vivaro social only £398

My area is expensive due to the motorway roundabout down the road where there was loads of cash for cash " accidents " staged. Even made the local ITV news

2002 Jaguar S-type - £270 p/a

The first year I had it I paid £360 vs £400+ for the Golf it replaced (Golf-90bhp/Jag-240bhp)...

£100 for a 1969 TVR Vixen!

Ahh, classic policies.

What age were you when the price dropped? I'm 37 and mine has been fairly consistent now for a few years. £400-£500 for boring family estates (currently an Avensis ).

Not a car, but my Yamamah R1 yesterday was £181 to renew including business use. Could have got as low as £107, but opted for legal cover, breakdown and cover for other bikes included.

36, nice postcode and 3 points. Thought it was a good price.

I just bought my daughter a new driver policy for a 1.2l Seat Leon. I should have chopped my willy off 18 yrs and 9 months ago, OK I'd not have it to wave, but I'd be a sight better off. 🙁

What age were you when the price dropped?

34. I think a lot of it's down to far more Golfs getting crashed/stolen/raced around car parks than Jaguars.
