First op is now done, arthroscopey, good old poke around and manipulation under anaesthetic. Struggling at the moment, but fingers crossed for a quick recovery and the swelling to go down (I've got one leg like a track cyclist now), then roll on op number two and back on the bike for Spring 2011.

good luckwith recovery.

it could be worse, they gave me a zimmer frame when I broke my hip!

Turned out to be quite useful for holding onto when I was trying to wash but otherwise I tried to stick to the crutches.

Sounds promising.
What did you do/are you going to do, regarding Glasto?

ask CFH if you can borrow one of these, doubtless he“ll have a glut of them cluttering up his country pile?

My Grandad makes walking sticks. He also never wears a jacket and therefore is nails.

If you have a dog he will carve a head in it's image for the top of the stick.

I didn't know he did this for a while - he used to be a cooper you see - and when i saw them i was amazed. Great looking things they are. My Mum might need one soon for some arthritic nonsense in her hip.

Anyway, best of luck with your recovery.

Cheers guys.

Glasto is off I'm afraid, it's just not worth it.

The compression bandage is off and underneath are two holes/stitches, I wasn't expecting that, I thought there would only be on entry point!

Keyhole? There's one for the camera and one for the implements?

I was on a stick for a couple of months back when I was about 22. Got used to it after a bit, first thing I learnt was to watch I didn't put it down drains when crossing the road, nearly pulled my knee out first time I did that. Went to the Bob Dylan concert at Blackbushe Aerodrome and hitched back home without too much bother, though by then the foot was pretty much healed, it depends how confident you feel.

Hope it all goes well.
