Been laid up with the cough virus that's doing the rounds and have managed to get through a large pack of Morrisons ginger nuts in two days 🙁
They are great dunkers tho 🙂

Me too. The cough thing, not the ginger nuts. I've eaten my own bodyweight in cheese though

Taking two days for a pack of biscuits? Are you a mouse?

Two packets of biscuits is an afternoons work - lightweight, literally.

I've been using some leave I have to use and the unseasonable weather to rack up 312 miles so far this year - have now got the beginnings of a cold but was not expecting to get a ride in again before Friday, so hopefully back on it at the weekend

Started the new year well with both a paddle and a 5k run on new years day. Went downhill after that.
I got my first ride in this year this lunchtime. Spent from the 3rd till yesterday mostly feeling sorry for myself. In retrospect though deciding I was recovered last Wednesday and doing a fairly hard work out wasnt too smart. Now increasing the effort more gently.

I'm on 454km in Jan, a decent chunk of which have been outside. 5-2 diet going well and completed a Horrific XC race, yeah, going ok.

I'm aiming for 2000 MTB miles this year, effectively double last year. Mainly to try and massively improve my fitness. On 70 miles so far. I should really get some decent lights and do some night rides during the week, just mellow stuff but I'm sure it'd be fun.

Modern lights really are amazing. Whilst it is a tad slower its not like I remember as a teenager when had to pootle along at walking pace because thats all the crap lights allowed for.
I was surprised at how dry the trails were today. Nowhere near as bad as last year where I had to abandon the mountain bike for several months due to a)it not being fun riding in that sort of mud and b)not wanting to trash the trails.

I'm having great success with the "I'll try and get drunkerer this year".
The getting fit thing, not so much... 🤔

This year I think I'm at four off road rides (one with a serious case of Dom's to the point I couldn't ride out of the saddle), two crashes (both on Saturday and both stupid on my part) and one trip to the gym.

I did however consume a very large burrito at lunch time so I think I've got the balance right.

And I know it's been said but two days for a pack of ginger nuts, I question your dedication to the cause. 😁

I've been trying to get rid of this feccin cough/cold since early November but alas it likes me too much to leave.
My getting fit consists of drinking less and being less grumpy

@iainc - sending you big hugs. Hang in there

950 km so far. Stayed relatively well with hint of a sore throat at the moment. Anniversary of my sister’s death on Friday so will be out for a long ride to clear the mind.

ianc that’s awful news. I hope you are bearing up.

Condolences to you and yours iainc. I’ve managed one trip to the gym wherein I completed a ten metre, 420kg prowler push which is a new PB I’m proud of.

Gone massively downhill since though. My fifteen month old daughter has decided that sleep is an affliction that only affects adults and toddlers. My boss has had to take long term medical leave, so my workload has suddenly grown. I too have this stupid cough and I ate two boxes of maltesers and half s packet of dark chocolate digestives at work yesterday.

I've had a good start to the year, I have been eating well and getting out on the bike a couple of times a week.

The problem is I had some back issues last year and it meant I could do very little exercise and lost any fitness I once had. I am finding it very frustrating starting again.

Thanks for the condolences folks. It’s tough but on the upside I’ve lost at least 3 lbs in the last week and filled a whole skip solo yesterday !

Started the year with a CX race and actually felt pretty good, but then decided to rest my sore knee for a couple of weeks, during which time I've had a spasm in my lower back, brought on, I suspect, by the exercises I'm doing for the sore knee!

My Veloviewer mileage projection was looking good for the first week, now I'm already below last year's line, bad start!
