I know its not Ilfracombe but Squires in Braunton always has a queue a mile long outside it.
Always have lovely fish and chips in there. You can book as well.

Another vote for squires, mmmm. We went down that way on holiday for a few years and I can't remember eating out in Illfracombe, some nice places in Woolacombe though.

No.6 in Braunton also does nice Fish & Chips.

In Ilfracombe....only place we ate down there is the Curry House over the road from the Theatre the Royal or something, really good.

if you're coming down the M5, come off at J27, head down to Tiverton, then go to the Mason's Arms at Knowstone, great spot for a lunch, not had dinner there but I've no doubt their Michelin Star would see you ok

Another vote for Squires, the Williams Arms in Wrafton is quite nice too (owned by the Squire family). 😉

The Olive Room on Fore Street, Ilfracombe is brilliant 😀

Proper original food, and not too pricey either

If it's ice cream you're after it has to be Hocking's.
Yellow and red vans. Bloody lovely stuff!

There is an old school eat in fish and chip place overlooking the harbour, it's good as I remember.
Woolacombe worth a visit.
A great fish place is in Morthoe. It's kind of in someone's house.

There's also a nice tea shop opposite the church, good coastal walks and dog friendly pubs.

Has Damian Hirst still got that place on the harbour? It was pretty good when we were there a couple of years ago.

If you want to check out some local beaches, check out Croyde Bay, some great pubs, good surfing too

Squires, over-rated, over-priced, over queued.

Sylvesters in Appledore.

I was in there for lunch on Thursday, excellent as usual.
I stopped to look in South Fork Bikes, they'd been broken into the night before, but the police actually managed to catch the little rascals (after a chase involving a damaged police car,a rolled Transit and one robber in hospital). It seems that they came down from Bristol to rob the shop. 😕

this was a timely thread for us too, can I add to the recommendation (if a little late for flashes) Take Thyme at the bottom of Fore St for great place to eat local seafood. Family owned, a small place recommended to us by the owner of the Olive Branch. Again the Olive branch was a lovely place to stay (booked after seeing the comments above), unfortunately the restaurant/bistro wasn't open for us to try their food, though there full english was great 😀
