Would someone mind doing me a favour; I'm sure there must be someone on here with an ikea Pax wardrobe with sliding doors? A couple of measurements would save me a trip to the land of Blue&Yellow.
What is the depth from the back of the carcass to the front of the frame?
What is the depth from the back of the carcass to the front of the forward (outer) sliding door?
What is the height of the sliding door above the carcass? (we have nominally 236 cm wardrobes)
Many thanks 🙂
I think the first one is 50cm (from memory), but if you're planning on getting close to the ceiling, bare in mind they will be a real pain to erect - the ikea instructions suggest building them on the floor then rotating them to vertical, if you're within ~20cm of the ceiling height (someone can do the trig to work out the exact amount), this doesn't work as a slightly tilted wardrobe is taller than one which is upright. It's possible to build them vertically, but I don't know if you can do all the slidey bits (as I never had slidey doors)
Yes we're going to assemble upright (the F-i-L has managed it easily enough before) and won't have loads of room left (240 cm floor to ceiling with carpet removed).
I'm panning on removing the correct amount of skirting to get a neat fit, hence needing the measurements.
Aren't the dimensions listed on Ikea's website? They're usually pretty good with that sort of thing.

Indeed they are 👍

External ours measure 600mm and 655mm to outside of outer door (aluminium framed frosted glass doors). Measured internal the first measurement is 578mm back panel to front of frame.
Doors flush-ish with the top of the carcass (outer a few mm higher, inner a few mm lower).
We only have 100mm ceiling clearance and still managed the build flat and stand up technique.
Ikea recommend at least 240 cm for the taller model with sliding doors but I measured the top of the sliding door frame as being 237cm last time we went to look at these in the store. I’d probably want at least 238 cm clear space after that in the room to risk giving the taller ones a go (ours was 236 from floor boards to ceiling so we had to go with the shorter units).
Thanks all., especially bigynn and mick_r. Think I'm happy now that it's going to fit.
Pics will come when it's done 👍
The sliding doors need to have a couple of cm's clearance above the frame to hang them and for allowing for clearance of the outer slide door top cover (this is not mentioned in the measurements online). Floor to ceiling of 240cm should be ok.

I have done this with only about 30mm ceiling clearance (though not with sliding doors)
It was many years ago, but iirc it was a bit of a pain but totally doable. The top panel went in flipped through 180 degrees so you can hold the whatever-they-are-called barrel shaped things in the right orientation.
If you are close to Bristol/Bath, I have a load of the sliding wire basket drawers that I want to flog off (very) cheaply.
