You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Where would you look / advertise / hang around with a big club and a sack...?
Looking for someone with a fair mix of process / mechanical / electrical who has seen a bit of industry rather than staring at a PC.
Small business based rather than megacorp but customers will be big uns. Bit of a development challenge!
It does seem that these people are scarce!!
What industry? If you can't find anyone through contacts you're probably in to the necessary evil that is recruitment consultants.
What location?
And what salary?
Location would ideally be north west although flexible as its not a single site position - plenty of WFH and travel to suit.
Salary not fixed either - open to discussion! If £40k were possible then great but for someone good then we'd consider more.
That is me but I am in the South West!!
eskay - do you have a car and enthusiam to get stuck into a challenging project? As I said, north west is the ideal but its not a barrier being elsewhere.
Please mail me if you are interested - happy to have a chat.
Use an agency.
But use a single, specialist in that area. Everyone will say they’re a specialist so ask then to list the last 5 placements they made in that area, also look on their website for similar roles. Pay them a good rate but be very clear on your expectations, both of the candidate and of what you want the agency to do.
Sent PM but not looking to change at the moment!
Damn no electrical experience or I would have a sniff
Try linked in
Swelper - feel free to PM me if you want mate. The electrical is prob least important.
If you could talk my dad back out of retirement he would be perfect. Hes just done some consultancy work for a big concrete product manufacturee and they were amazed and very happy at the changes that he brought to their manufacturing processes, Would part time be any good?
I mended the washing machine once, does that make me an engineer?😀
DTs - as a well known, repugnant, hairy little Lord might say "You're hired"!
Wrightyson, I'm open to all options, happy to have a chat.
CB I’m north west based looking for a change 🤔🤔
Pm sent - not looking to change but always good to know what's about.
Rusty - Pm'd you back
Wors - feel free to drop me a message
@cb, FiL may be interested. He's recently retired, but has done the odd job since.
Could you let me have your details so I can pass them on to him?
Thanks.
I'd post up an advert up on stw thinly disguised as a question 😉
What level of qualifications are you looking for? "Engineer" can mean just about anything from the guy who fixes your washing machine to someone who designs/develops spacecraft. Industry specific experience is also important. "Engineer" covers a vast range of skillsets that no single person could ever hope to have. For example I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked in motorsport in various design, development and technical management roles. I probably wouldn't have a clue about your industry.

You're asking that question like this is some sort of recruitment exercise. This is clearly a thinly disguised lonely hearts ad. The give away is the 'hang around in a big club and a sack"
So in answer to the OP - Plenty of Fish, Tinder or traditionally Singles Night at the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
Im coming to the end of a contract, but EA based rather than North west
i would ask them some tricky questions like how many thou in 3/16th and the rockwell hardness of 4130.
that sorts the men out from the boys.
quick look at their micrometer too to see if it's well used but also within spec.
As above, ideas about level is hard to judge from what you want. Also sounds initially like you want someone at consultant / hight contractors level which if you want someone traveling a lot will cost a lot more than £40k. I might be reading it wrong and you more want a service engineer or comissioning guy.
Another PM has gone your way.
Singles Night at the Institute of Mechanical Engineers
That would be next Tuesday's lecture on Mentoring for MPDS.
Ok, some fair points in that lot.
Obvioulsy I didn't want to write an essay here because its absolutely not an advert...your honour...if I can help out a STW'er then the world is a better place.
spennyy - got your PM thanks, will respond.
notlocal - could you PM me please?
I'm certainly not looking for the washing machine repairer and pointed out that salary would be flexible (poss PT if that suits). Need a senior guy/gal confident with process development / scaling excercises that would be able to lead a collaboration with external contractors and end users.
That singles night qualify for CPD?
