Well, that was quite intense 😳
That's a calm individual!
Given how much he zoomed in at the beginning, I can imagine thinking "that's OK, it's miles away". Then, as it approaches, realising the speed it is going. Lucky those rocks were nearby.
I thought it was slow motion at first

That's one way of putting it.
Woah, that’s scary! The power is awesome and frightening!
Blimey
Strewth, crikey, and wow…that was nuts. It was miles away!
I saw that video when it popped up on Flipboard, and I had much the same reaction! Trouble is, an avalanche like that is traveling a lot faster than it appears, a bit like a pyroclastic flow from a volcano, something like 150-200mph?
It’s the fact that there’s a significant dip that’s deceiving, it sort of disappears, lulling you into a false sense of security, then it comes hammering up over the near ridge, in an ‘Oh, shit!’ moment.
He was bloody lucky he had the rocks there.
That’s a calm individual!
If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs…..maybe you don’t understand the situation 😀
Perhaps he was sick of the incessant snow updates?
Outstanding footage. Reckon that’ll turn up in natural science lectures for years to come.
Rest of his instagram feed makes me feel quite ill.
Perhaps he was sick of the incessant snow updates?
Beaten to it....
I’d have been moving a good few seconds before he did. Maybe not make much real difference but looked daft to me he was still filming when obvious the snow was a few seconds from hitting him.
Outstanding footage.
Well, filmed in portrait, but y'know... 😉
