How long would you wait before asking for payment?
I fell as though there's a story behind this in the news or something I haven't seen - but - 'promptly'.
Open a dispute with paypal if you like but that inner tube was FINE when i posted it.

you didn't sell a yacht and use paypal gift did you?
Sensible Answer: As long as was detailed in the contractual terms of the loan
Non-Sensible Answer: About 5 seconds after receiving an answer to "Where's my money?" that could be filed in the "bullshit" category.
Doesn't it rather depend on the terms/circumstances...?
F1, FIFA or IAAF...?
The old adage rings true ....
Owe someone £1000 it's your problem, owe them £1.3m and it's their problem
Good luck
If his name were platini never, I'd expect him to consider it back pay.

I'm so rich I probably wouldn't chase for 10 years or so. I'm also such a nice chap I also wouldn't seek any interest, but that's just me.
That would surely depend:
1. On "my" financial position. If I am a nation with billions in the bank, a successful business with millions in the bank, an SME with thousands in the bank or me!
2. If "i" was out of pocket for something they owed me for.
3. On the "trading history" / "trust" level between us.
4. The agreed payment terms, and industry norms for payment.
5. If I was expecting future business from them (although that is more to do with HOW rather than WHEN you ask).
However its hard to imagine many situations where you wouldn't ask very soon (1-5 days) after it falling due.
Will they be politely asked to 'settle up' ?

Allowing someone to rack up a debt of 1.3 million might be seen as negligent.

Unless it's a bank in which case they'd have their knuckles wrapped for not spending enough....
New mudguards for your Diverge? blinkin' expensive if it's them..
Ahh, it's the Clem Stradas.. you need new tyres.
Or, well that's 86000 pairs of Rapha socks, DPD may need a bigger Van.
Latest 'post-it' deal gone bad or bulk staplers this time?
Drowning in red ink I reckon.

Depends - could be products that sell for £1M+ and just gone over payment terms.
As with all commercial debt chasing, its about weighing up the risk of over threatening so they pop the company, leaving you with nothing. Seen that before.
Why do you ask?

It's not unusual for me to pay invoices for $800k plus. I say pay... I mean push some electronic paperwork around and in 1 week someone gets an electronic notice that we are going to pay them then something happens and maybe 6-12 months later they might get the money...
The system is pretty poor....
i'd be dreaming or wishful thinking..
Net plus 30 days. 60 if they are lucky.
