i know tbey suffer from rot, but a w639 vito dualiner has come up at a decent price 122k miles but an auto...
having just been bitren by an auto vw t4, i'm scared....
should i be???
i drove a vito minibus last year (current shape one) and it is one of the best transmissions i have ever driven. i am a driveline engineer for a major oem, which is not mercedes. much much better than the rubbish that was in the t4. not as nice as a BMW 530D but very good.
It's a Mercedes Auto, they may be crazy at rust prevention, but they can build a decent auto box, in fact I'd rather have a Mercedes auto over a manual box every time.
Vitos at work. All auto.
They are all less than 4 years old, only serviced when they have to be and just don't have problems.
Not great fuel economy though. Low 30's on a run.
you will die but it's unlikely to be as a result of the Vito 😉
You will die of lack of driving involvement, the underlying cause is usually exploding balls since you will have nothing to masturbate about.
on the other hand i have driven plenty of manual vitos, and they are all terrible. you dread driving though town.
balls went pop a long time ago, pounds like it may be alright then...
Auto is the way to go coz manual is sooo yesterday. 😛
I've had one for nearly 9 years (Dualiner 120 CDi).
Auto box is brilliant, no rust at all, very few problems since new.
It's done 147k and still drives like new, very quick and quiet.
Will probably get a new one next year, new 190bhp one will get over 40mpg.
