Inspired by the "Jazz" thread... And cos it's Monday morning and I need a distraction.

If the different branches of cycling were represented by bands what would you suggest?

DH- AC /DC instantly recognised and pretty loud...

Trials - Superstar DJ repackaged and looped

Endurance Bike packing - Sigur Ros odd atmospheric and quite hard to get into for any length of time.

The type of cycling that I do = the theme tune from Steptoe and Son

Long distance road racing.. hmm, just can't think of any music that would go with the "Tour De France" ... 😉

Road riding in the UK - Kraftwerk or Daft Punk, but with occasional random bits of Napalm Death, i.e. something enjoyable, if a bit mechanical and repetitive, but punctuated by brief bursts of loud scary metal.

Also works for Chris Froome running up Mount Ventoux this summer 😉

Depends on the perspective for my type of riding.
In my mind it'd be a bit Motorhead, those watching would be thinking the Laurel and Hardy theme tune.

Track sprint cycling.

Lots of tense tip-toeing around the track then - boom - it's off (3m 32s in).

Last year the TdF producers used this one day for the closing credits, it was excellent; they used the refrain for some sharply-edited shots of the cyclists on the day's descent:

Otherwise cycling has to be The Trap by Ron Goodwin, the inspiring music used for the London Marathon on TV:

Single speeding- either something punk crusty and loud and political, but simple like crass or extreme noise terror

Or the other branch of single speeding which seems to have turned into fatbloke drinkinging massive quantities of ale being hugely misogynistic and hardly looking at a bike, then the macc lads
