...comments off air then how the hell is Loose Women allowed to continue when their show is solely based on sexist comments?

I've never seen the show but I've heard the analogy. Is it based on sexist comments about specific individuals who are being singled out in an industry dominated by the opposite sex?

I think the context is not even comparable personally, but that is conjecture

My mate posted this almost word for word on his FB status last week when this was actually still in the news.

apparently it was gonna be called

"four old bags who get off on double entendres and suggestive talk but would run a mile if you got your cock out unless they were pre-occupied with coronation street or other celebrity bollocks"

but "loose women" was more catchy.

Is it not about power?

Grey and Keys are in a position of power over the women they're asking to "tuck in their microphone leads".

Really? I think not. Did she tuck in his microphone? Was he her line manager?

Because women are still discriminated against in many professions?

Because it actually is 'banter' on Loose Women not real denigration of men (I don't know as I've never seen it)?

Really? I think not.

You don't think that the highly paid presenters have any clout over the lower paid people they're working with?

Not to the point where they can get away with unnacceptable behaviour.

As was quite clearly demonstrated.

Not really. In this instance I think it was one highly paid presenter being rude and offensive to another. I dont think the pay grade made this behaviour more likely.

Except probably for about 15 years, until you start making a fuss about having your phone hacked by a newspaper owned by your boss.

I think the appropriate playground platitude is "two wrongs don't make a right"

Loose Women do generalise their 'banter' but they are specific on occasions.

If Grey and Keys are now to be the benchmark for what is and isn't acceptable comment then Loose Women should be re-staffed.

Unfortunately, there is still the general opinion that men should just ignore or brush off such things.

I've personally heard three different commentators this season make staements during commentary - ie was broadcast - that a Referee or Linesman needed to be taught the rules of the game because they appeared to have made the wrong decision. Strangely, none of those were sacked.

mk1fan the difference here was they did not disagree with a decision she had made and say she needed to be taught the rules . They saw her walk out realised she was female and assumed because of her gender she was not qualified to do the job.In actual fact as i understand it she went on to make a correct tough call on the off side rule showing that they are not only a bit un pc but also wrong.

They judged the professionalism of someone based on their gender. They both should have been sacked. I just hope they get two fit women with big nubs in to replace them.

I must be honest, I don't care. I did think it was funny though when one said 'I wouldn't' 😆

Because we are big enough, ugly enough and MANLY enough not to give wxyz....

Safe in the knowledge that we men are excellent and not one of us would wish to be a woman.

I'm not sure that would work as at somepoint they'd refer to Torres as 'oooo nice legs'

"Dark, handsome looking and I bet his partner is happy"

There would be the odd quips like this but of course a woman saying this makes it alright.

Neither of them were sacked for what they said about the assistant ref though were they!
AFAIK Keys quit and grey (apparently a complete sleasball!) was sacked for being a sleasball towards the women he worked with.

Errr, yes they did. Their comments started because they questioned an offside decision she made (which, as you say, she made correctly).

Let's not repeat a rather pointless thread that's been Goodwin'd all ready.

I thought they made the comments before the game had even started?

They did. The decision, that she got right, came later.

The comments I am refering too were the ones first leaked and made in response to the offside decision, hence them saying she needs to be taught the offside rules. Grey is outside watching the game which is why he is hard to hear. Keys then mentions Karren Brady's column from the morning papers.

It's irrelevant anyway as regardless of when they were said, if that is now the 'standard' to which broadcasters are to be held then Loose Women falls short of them.

ETA: Loose Women is not the only show, what about Graham Norton.
