You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Morning all, sorry if this has been covered before, but I have a problem when viewing the Singletrack site in Internet Explorer. I normally use my work PC, so I'm a bit limited in what I can do, but here goes. On certain pages - particularly FGF - the pictures come up huge, with the sidebar (ads etc appears on RHS of screen) covering part of them - not an major issue, but very annoying as I can't then properly see stuff I can't afford.... Any ideas?
I'm fairly clueless on this sort of stuff, so unless its' something easy to change, or simple like suggesting I use another browser then I'll just put up with it, but I'd like to get rid of it if poss!
Cheers
I'm a luddite too but I think this is something to do with company laptop firewall/anti malware/anti popup setups. My work laptop does the same thing, plus gets hot when viewing STW and ends up running slow, reloading pages etc. Does the same when viewing crappy local newspaper webpages.
Try a different browser, e.g. chrome or firefox. IE is an old browser that Microsoft don't really support any more and recommend using the 'Edge' browser instead.
When I use IE the site is throwing up all sorts of script errors so I think the latest version of the site is based on new standards that IE no longer support.
Aye, sounds about right - miserable buggers my lot...
Cheers StuF - might try Chrome, as find Edge a bit of a PITA to be honest - hence still using IE!
Do you mean Internet Explorer, or Edge? The icons look very similar. My work has some internal stuff that requires Internet Explorer, but for everything else, everyone uses Chrome etc. Edge never took off and will be replaced by a reskinned Chrome, so not really much point worrying about either of those browsers.
Chrome used to be great but has moved too far towards a tool to track you and manage targeted ads. Cookie collection at the expense of performance, plus privacy concerns.
Firefox is better option.
+1 for not using IE (... ever).
Try resizing the browser window maybe? There's a threshold width at which it'll switch between desktop and mobile views (I think it's 1000px but could be wrong, it's around that though). That might give you a better (or worse) experience.
I stopped checking websites I build in IE.
Got enough on my plate making them work for Safari!
Firefox. End of. I certainly wouldn’t consider using Chrome, from what I’ve been reading lately. I use Firefox and Safari, with DuckDuckGo and a VPN.
I didn't even know IE existed any more. Try Mosaic instead.
I didn’t even know IE existed any more.
It's hidden, but it's still there if you know where to look. A lot of stuff was built for it back in the olden days so MS keep it there for backwards compatibility.
One of the menu options is called Compatibility Mode. Turn that on for singletrackworld.com. I've had some success with that in the past.
Or install Chrome. Even if your admin rights don't usually let you install software, it finds a way to swerve that.
Cheers all, installed Chrome and now working fine 🙂
