So went into town with the two youngest for some lunch. Walking home and across the pedestrian crossing, some twonk in a fiesta decides he doesn't need to stop for us, even though we're half way across the crossing. An arms raised gesticulation from me, no swearing, and he slams the brakes on, then shouts out saying I'll cause an accident and that he'll knock me out in front of my kids.
Fortunately they're 13 and 15 and thought he was a twonk, but seriously, what is wrong with people ?
I'm not someone to get in a fight, but probably a good thing the kids were there as I was seriously pissed off, although that may have been part of the problem as he decided it was acceptable to try and drive into them!
That's me vented now, thanks ?
Dickheads are out there unfortunately. Glad you kept your cool. In my experience people like them won’t do anything. All mouth and no trousers as my grandad used to say. Just laugh it off and be on your way. I know that’s not as easy as it sounds in the heat of the moment.
Pretty sure threatening people is an offence. A reg number and two witnesses. Report to tne Police. If they take no action now, he'll be on record if anyone has a run in with him.
**** 'em, don't deserve to drive.
The winter weather tends to keep the idiots indoors, the summer always brings them out, with their antisocial behavior. You did the right thing and thankfully no one got hurt, including the fanny driving the car, although he sounds like he needs knocking a peg or two down.
I'd report that to the police if it was me
I’m doing the school run at the moment as my wife is sick. Last week’s highlight was someone reversing their car up the full size kerbs, and across the pavement to do a three point turn whilst all the kids are walking, running, and scooting down the pavement. I had to physically stand behind them shouting at the top of my voice to get them to stop.
All road markings and signage around the school is obviously just there to make the roads look pretty.
@bensales This is why, wherever possible, we need School Streets. Also has the handy benefit of deterring dickheads who drive half a mile to school and thus contribute to the problem, and the climate crisis.
I've been in Prague for over a week now and still can't get my head around zebra crossings being everywhere and actually working.
I've been marshaling a time trial this afternoon. Knob head in a Land Rover/ caravan combo did a u-turn in the mouth of the junction I was at right as a tester was approaching. Then had the gall to wind his window down to argue with me for shouting at him.
Luckily the rider snuck down the side and in front of him so I can only hope he was held up for a good few miles. ?

Bugger shouting, I’d have been kicking the back of the car, or slamming the flat of my hand hard on the glass!
I have, in the past, had someone pull out of a side turning while I was on my bike, then start to pull alongside forcing me into the kerb, until I kicked their passenger door hard several times.
The thing was, they saw me coming, and looked straight at me, while pushing me into the kerb. Assholes, assholes all the way down! ??

Dunno about that. I got in a fight once with another cyclist who barreled through a zebra when I was waiting to cross.
@ratherbeintobago - we have School Streets! And a 20mph limit in all the roads surround the school. This incident happened in the area just outside the school streets where the problem has just been pushed to.
@CountZero - that would have been the next step. However, I conscious of escalating things in such a way in front of my child. Believe it or not, we had letters home from the school about physical confrontations between parents, and between parents and residents over driving and parking around the school.
Thankfully we only need to tolerate it for another year.
Usage of 'idiot' & 'twonk' shows good restraint in this situation, not sure I'm capable of that. Driver didn't deserve restraint, absolute %^&*()$£&*($)£... but your children did.

Years ago, some [expletive] came steaming out of a car park and tried to run over a mate and me (we were on foot). I Ninja Warrior leapt over the bonnet, my mate just stood his ground and thumped it one. I've never seen anyone punch out a car, before or since.
The OP needs to carry a potted cactus in his pocket for such occasions ?

Is that official race marshalling with the legal power to stop traffic, or club type marshalling in the forlorn hope that the cyclists will not pull.out in front of vehicles when you warn them?
I'm touring around France at the mo and most cars stop first time wherever you are, same in west of Ireland earlier this year. Bloody Eccy Rd in Sheffield, crossing at the lights is like Russian roulette.
