James Nesbitt ?
Surfmatt?
Carlos Fandango?
looks a bit like luigi musso
Is it Dick Seaman? 😀
(I know it isn't)
Tazio Nuvolari?
Flangio Klungenello?
Herki Flirkki-Merkinnen. First Finn in F1.
Not Seaman or Nuvolari, looks too old for Musso (looks 20s/30s to me?). Annoyingly stumped!
Henry Seagrave?
It's a lot like Nuvolari even if it isn't him. Reminds me a bit of a young Farina too, and Henry Segrave.
Is it Peter Perfect in the Turbo Terrific?
Ronnie Pickering
Freddie March
Chapeau! Would have been annoyed if we didn't get the answer. 🙂
Impressive skills. Why did uou ask OP?
Have no idea how you did it, Johnny Storm, but thanks. (Google and bing image searches drew blank for me so I don't think you cheated.)
Special mention to Gee-Jay, Pondo & peteimpreza. (I'd never heard of Tazio Nuvolari - had a quick read up on him and glad I did.)
Why did you ask OP?
He hangs on the wall of a cafe I sometimes go to. It's been driving me mad for literally years. Then this summer I saw a picture of a bloke who (because of this thread) I now know to be Henry Seagrave in the Land Speed Records area at Beaulieu and thought "Ahh that's him." ...but that picture didn't have a caption either so it didn't move me any further forward but added to the frustration. Then last weekend he was hanging there mocking me with his "You still don't know who I am" expression and decided to go nuclear and ask on STW. That'll learn him.
I wasn't expecting it to be that difficult. Assumed he was a very high profile racing driver. In fact it was an aristocrat in an Aeroplane!
Drac - not awesome enough for surfmatt
I thought Nuvolari too at first, but not Italian looking enough.
Never heard of Freddie March though.
Great thread, brightened my day! 🙂 Deffo not Nuvolari, that dude had a bit of a chin on him - one of those to be considered when arguing the greatest ever, Enzo Ferrari raced against him and certainly thought Tazio was the best he ever saw.
