Found on Sunday near Coniston Water on a field next to the lake. It was a popular spot for paddleboarded but I’m certain it’s nothing to do with that. It looks like a fold out leg to steady something but I have no idea what! Any ideas?

I get this from Google image search -

The object in the image is a Bespeco CLAMPSX Add-on Microphone Stand with Clamp Connection.
It is designed as an additional microphone stand that can be attached to pipes with a 28 mm diameter.
It features a structure made of steel and a loaded nylon swivel joint with an ergonomic knob for safety locking.
The boom and cable clamp are made of nylon, and it includes a nylon clutch-style height adjustment.
It is a professional boom microphone stand suitable for various situations due to its stability.

"Claude" is not an AI model I've come across before, but can't say I am impressed - that is utter junk.

The ai answer is clearly wrong.

I don't think its a mic stand either though . Wrong threads for a start and it doesn't have any clamps

How big os it. There are some folding seats for paddleboarrds to allow a kayak style use but i don't think they are as structured as tgat.

What Dakuan is trying to say is 'I don't know' but he got a chatbot to say that for him

I also don't know but I'm hoping to find out because I've got the left-handed version 8313-IMG8877.jpeg

weird that we've both got the same stain on our carpets

my guesses were 'mic stand?' and maybe 'part of some kind of boating awning?'

But Claude's answer was much funnier so I went with that

If it isn't any of the above, could it be part of a drone? I'd certainly expect to see a drone more than someone with a microphone near a lake.

Looks to me like part of a large kite or possible a tent

You're right

Curiously both me and the OP also have the same stain on our carpeted ceilings

It's the rifle from the original Day of the Jackal.

Something next to the object to give an idea of scale might help, like a 50p coin…

It certainly looks like part of a kite, or something similar.

Part of an umbrella or kite is my guess.

Im pretty sure its part of a rod holder for carp fishing.

Many of carp fisher-people use multiple rod holders, and if you google that you get examples that look similar, though with more bits(or the correct bits fitted)

Looks an awful lot like one of the legs off our fold out beach shelter tent thing.

Bit like this:
