Any idea what this is?
It's been sat in various family members gardens for decades and the tale passed down is that it's some sort of meteorite but it seems to uniform for that!...

It's definitely not a meteorite. Looks to be made of some sort of sand/gritstone.
Something Lovecraftian, I reckon...

Fossilised dinosaur poo, probably brontosaurus - definitely not T Rex as that's more of a glam rock.

Edit: Whilst it looks like it has bedding and jointing along the top, i'm with crikey until I see an unweathered sample.

This is not the year to smashing strange rocks open.
Those planes you can see look like sedimentary layering so, yeah, looks like a concretion in a clastic sedimentary rock (sandstone/siltstone).
You could smash it up and see if there is something interesting in the middle as they tend to form around bits of fossilised organic matter, but prepared to be disappointed.
I don't think its worth much this side of Camden Market!
Nice rock! I asked a proper Geologist...it's a nodule. Very common in mudstones, though not always as spherical as this. Made of calcite (CaCO3)
