Jurassic wasp nest (sneak edit)
It's definitely not a meteorite. Looks to be made of some sort of sand/gritstone.
Something Lovecraftian, I reckon...
Chris
Could be a volcanic bomb.
Fossilised dinosaur poo, probably brontosaurus - definitely not T Rex as that's more of a glam rock.
It’s a muffin, man.
Can you get a freshly cut sample?
If not tell people it's cummingtonite.
Edit: Whilst it looks like it has bedding and jointing along the top, i'm with crikey until I see an unweathered sample.
Smash it open and see what the kinder toy is?
Fraggle.
Frozen then fossillised poo from an aeroplane. See Joe Dirt.
Sham
volcanic bomb I reckon
Where was it found? or originally from?
Jesus.
Jesus is my rock (my rock)...
Keep 'em coming! đŸ™‚
Think Crikey may have it! Worth owt?
Not that we'd sell it of course - family heirloom and all that! 😉
Dwayne Johnson?
Blackpool?
This is not the year to smashing strange rocks open.
Those planes you can see look like sedimentary layering so, yeah, looks like a concretion in a clastic sedimentary rock (sandstone/siltstone).
You could smash it up and see if there is something interesting in the middle as they tend to form around bits of fossilised organic matter, but prepared to be disappointed.
I don't think its worth much this side of Camden Market!
Nice rock! I asked a proper Geologist...it's a nodule. Very common in mudstones, though not always as spherical as this. Made of calcite (CaCO3)
I was going to suggest you joined UK Climbing and asked on there because they have a wide range of contributors.
The more I try to be gniess the more I get taken for granite.
It's a McGlashan Stone.
This thread is a load of schist.
A plug of slag from a crucible?
Saw in half and polish the cut faces.
Might be something inside, but if not you've two pieces for the rice of one can be set as a book match to frame something in the garden, or each side of the entryway.
Theres quite a lot of cut examples in images.
