We are having a couple of days in Watford (Harry Potter) and London and travelling back to Yorkshire next Tuesday. I have been able to get a couple of extra days off work so we fancies stopping off somewhere for an extra night on the way home (probably around the Peak District). The thing is, we are a bit stuck for ideas about exactly where and what to do. Can anyone suggest anywhere with nice accommodation (we liked the idea of a camping hut but doubt we'll get a single night at this time of year). Ideas please!!!
Stayed at the Darwin Forest Country Park in the Peak District a few years back, was excellent, might be worth a look.
National Coal Mining Museum near Huddersfield is also good for a visit
Alton towers / Alton towers water (swimming) Park?
Warwick Castle isn't really on the way but is a small diversion up the M40. The trebuchet is worth the trip alone.
Pains me to say it, but the Alton Towers suggestion is a good one. Even better if you surprise your kids and just roll up there. Hotel is a bit £££ for what it is, though.
