I hear that that the Zinc is a great way to counteract the insulin imapct of a high fruit content diet, you reading this Emma.
I know it shouldn't bug me, but can whoever put the tag up:
'diets are for the week of will and mind'
Spell weak properly. If you're going to rag on something, at least come correct yo.
What about sweet potatoes? Are they iCompliant?
And does anyone have a decent flatbread recipe? Tried a couple yesterday but they just came out like nutty cardboard.
I stood on the scales this morning and weighed in at 75kg 🙁
...but I was fully dressed ready to ride to work and wearing a rucksack... plus holding my mountain bike 😉
Kev
Like it Kev. The 'ol switcheroo.
i usually add caraway and chili to [s]everything I cook[/s] my flat breads
I'll never completely do the diet, having discovered that I'm pretty close to Lance's lowest weight
Yeti.. how many times.. weight is not the important value...
Possibly a shade under 84kg this morning, will see how it goes. Didn't ride in though, stiff tired legs. Will do something tonight off the bike I think.
EDIT googled for zinc + fructose + insulin. Bit technical for me I think!
What is then Molly? 😕
I'm with you on the spice thing Dave - but I was referring more to a method of prepping/cooking - as opposed to the flavouring/seasoning. Online stuff said to make them like pancakes, but they just didn't come out right. Ta
Well depends what you are doing.
Body fat % would be more appropriate. Or even just power/strength to weight ratio.

Zinc, chromium and Vit B complex for the win 😀
Well I'm not getting any 'weeker' and I'm not buying one of your fancy power meter things.
I'm just going to add a couple of Lance's workouts to my current routine.
Lance's stats do seem to go against the other riders though.. don't you think?
surely the way to measure is how many rolls of fat your belly makes when you sit down...
*plays with fat rolls like a depressed fat kid kneading a bucket of playdough*
Yeah, the "...week..." thing has been bugging me too. Wtf does "butler in the basement" mean anyway?
surely the way to measure is how many domesticated animals you can hide in the rolls of fat your belly makes when you sit down...

You don't need to. Just find a hill climb time trial, that'll encompass many relevant stats in one test 🙂
Yeti, there's a website for another AS challenge (just the hill bit) that if you time it and put your time on the website, it'll work out your power. Not sure how accurate it is, but worth a go. Perhaps not for all 31 though! 🙂 Plus, given it is like winter here, i would imagine we'll have a howling headwind, be in full winter gear and soaked so maybe its not the best option!
In other news, my power has come back finally *punches air in delight* and i'm looking forward to some speedwork and hill reps tomorrow night. 8)
*goes to catch up on the rest of the thread in an attempt not to eat the creme egg in my bag* 😕
Pah, Scotland's always sunny when I've been there.
Good news on the power Dirty... don't go overdoing it this week though!
Just been looking at a hill climb website... the guy looks ill! 😯
I'm here yeti but working - you know that thing called a job.... Many of you don't distinguish between work and stw time I know 😉
I shall read everything proper later. Do curlywurly's count as protein?
Cold, wet and stormy here *shivers*. I'm planning a pretty hard week if i can, then as of next Monday i'm resting - 96m sportive - resting - road racing/getting my legs ripped off - resting - AS - convent power struggle - recovering!
Here was me thinking it was women who could multi-task.
DirtyG... don't forget that the leadership is being decided on dirt... not road 😯
Lance's stats do seem to go against the other riders though.. don't you think?
I'm not sure they're that accurate. I thought he was around 70-72kg for most of his tour wins?
Don't forget big mig.. He was around 80kg but could ride with some of the best climbers in the tour because of his massive power output
Oh, while on the subject of flatbread...
Allow me to impart a word to the wise.
You might not want to keep your gram flour in the same type of container as your mustard powder.....
😳
You'll probably win the dirt stuff due to my time off the mtb (though i gave mustard a good run for his money on my ht yesterday 😆 ) but there's other challenges too!DirtyG... don't forget that the leadership is being decided on dirt... not road
Leadership?
So what about condiments? Tomato sauce and salad cream are presumably bad but are they bad enough that they negate he point of avoiding carbs in the first place? I presume mayo is OK as it's mostly fat?
Dunno.. I eat ketchup on my eggs as that's what allows me to eat them in the first place 🙂
Leadership?
They are competing to see who can [s]bore the crap out of us more with their constant alluding to something or other[/s] be the awesomerer 8)

1) What is AS?
2) I doubt the website will be very accurate for the reasons you go into....weather, altitude, road surface, how you're feeling etc.
FW.
Its about low GI. so check out the GI rating for said condiments.
Low is GO
Medium and High is NO.
However, it seems the theme that one avoids condiments with sugar in them, and IIRC, ketchup has a fair bit of sugar in it.
All this, of course, with respect to the day off where you can drink the stuff if thats your bag.
I've found that making my own dressing/sauces has been the key to unlocking the beans/pulses/salads.
STW has become quite a collection of food ideas, albeit that one will now need to do a fair bit of searching and reading.
😉
They are competing to see who can be the awesomerer
Don't we just install an awesomometer ?
Edit - It's all waffle and time I stopped boring people with it.
You're a delicate flower today, TSY.
Oh, and in before the ninja edit.
Meh - So you fancy 31 laps of Arthurs Seat Jamie?
What about this?
Who cares
I care - you make good company for fellow bored wafflers 🙂
Cheers Phil, I'm not upset, just working on making a more constructive contribution to the forum.
Is anyone taking part in the Charity Cardio Marathon at their gyms tonight?
3 hours of cardio. BooooM!

At the risk of taking you seriously, ignore me. Srsly.
Is anyone taking part in the Charity Cardio Marathon at their gyms tonight?
The what now?
No Jamie, I refuse to ignore you.
It's for cha-rid-eee
3 classes back to back...
1) 1 hour of Body Combat (no idea what it is)
2) 1 Hour of SuperCircuits
3) 1 hour RPM
🙂
Just cracked and had a Cadbury's freddo
8)
Friend in Switzerland has been on the diet for 3 weeks and lost 16kg - she was quite large but very active and never lost weight despite marathon running etc. She's stunned at the effect.
Carry on.

iDave.
So is the entire day now shot to sht or what ?.
Also, are you currently at your desired weight.

35lbs in 3 weeks? Either a decimal point has gone AWOL or she lost a limb.
Is anyone taking part in the Charity Cardio Marathon at their gyms tonight
My gym is the side of a hill, I've got a wall to finish. 41mph winds forcast for this evening. For charity, Im going to wear a sail whilst I build.
Jamie - admit it now... you sat there with the images ready to post didn't you just waiting for the ol' 999 to come up.
DTF - does your gym have a hot tub and sauna?
Don't be so quick to proclaim him Awesome!!! he's not agreed to ride round AS 31 times yet.
i'M doing it iDave's doing it...
is fat 🙁
iFatconsequence
can't wait to be able to ride again!
Yous not fat, yous Phat...
DTF - does your gym have a hot tub and sauna?
Only once per week.
And its usually referred to as a bath and its only allowed after works finished.
This AS loop - how far/how much climbing?
Yet? Do we have a possible 7th person then? Looks like plans are fairly firm now - although not heard back from druidh to see if the timing suits him - so i'll start talking more about it / drumming up interest soon 🙂Don't be so quick to proclaim him Awesome!!! he's not agreed to ride round AS 31 times yet.
If its as windy as it is today, it could well take us 31 hours to complete! 😯 *buys a sail for the bike just in case*
No Charity Cardio Marathon for me tonight...i was meant to be at the gym but i've got to work late tonight so doubt i'll make it 😥
Edit - mol according to druidh's gps, its 5.3km / 89.5m ascent per lap. That makes 164.3km, 2,775m for 31 laps. (102 miles / 9,104 ft)
Jamie - admit it now... you sat there with the images ready to post didn't you just waiting for the ol' 999 to come up.
All I will say is I saw my chance and I went for it. Deal with it.
Oh and hold the awesome people as........
As for AS, after double checking I will be in Sheff that weekend monkeying around Kinder Scout.
To be honest, it does not really appeal. While I like to push myself to do stuff I also want to enjoy it. 31 laps round Arthur's Seat? Will it not get a bit...well boring?
Anyway. I will leave it to you race whippets this time, but thanks for even considering me. I will probably see if Phil and Darcy want to eat flapjacks over skype.
Edit: You know what I would like to do? A proper military assault course....a bit of everything. Kinda like this maybe.....but I doubt I would beast it like this ninja:
It's going to be hideously boring. I'm going to get a smart phone strapped to my bike so I can post on here.
How about...

You appear to have dropped your gauntlet.
Jamie - I could do that!
Jamie - I could do that!
What? Drop your gauntlet?
Oops, I'm always doing that. It's always the right one I lose too.
You don't know any one armed people in the market for gauntlets do you?
Skype? SKYPE?! what are you? some kind of wimp?!
me and deadly like to sit on chatroulette until we cross swords, then we both go offline and cry a little x
The missus made this chicken broth with leftovers from w/e roast. Added some more herbage from le jardin and then accompanied it with some flatbread (recipe/method now sorted).
T'was bang on the money - having remains for lunch right now.
It's probably getting lost among all the bullshit I have posted in this thread, but what are peoples numbers? This thread has been going for long enough to see some figures posted for last 3 weeks or so I think.
I just want to see a picture of Molly. That is all.
I was very dehydrated 11 stone 13 this morning.

How did your cardio marathon thing go last night?
Oh and while we are doing it, I was 162lbs
are weights including being fully dressed with shoes and stuff? and are weights to be be taken at a particular time of day?
Bloody hard. They had a different instructor for each class so wasn't aloowed to slack for 3 hours.
Didn't drink enough and had voth my calves cramping for the final 20 mins of spinning.
The gym has been tough today.

First thing. Bollock naked.
Jamie - been stuck at 85-84 for the last two or three weeks - after hitting 84 before easter (within what, 3 weeks of starting) and then going back to to 87 over the holiday.
Pre or post dump?

I get up, morning piss, weigh myself.

Yep, post-morning piss as well. Although I've found that immediately after the commute home I'm sometimes even lighter 🙂

Do you think you would have performed similar on a traditional calorie counting diet?
I get up, morning piss, weigh myself.
Exactly what I do too.
Didn't raise anything. Donated myself as it's a worthy cause but really, asking people to sponsor me to got the gym is a piss take.

I meant the event, rather than yourself. Sorry, should have been clearer.*
*Although I would have sponsored you for a quid if you had asked 😉
