I hear that that the Zinc is a great way to counteract the insulin imapct of a high fruit content diet, you reading this Emma.

I know it shouldn't bug me, but can whoever put the tag up:

'diets are for the week of will and mind'

Spell weak properly. If you're going to rag on something, at least come correct yo.

What about sweet potatoes? Are they iCompliant?

And does anyone have a decent flatbread recipe? Tried a couple yesterday but they just came out like nutty cardboard.

I stood on the scales this morning and weighed in at 75kg 🙁

...but I was fully dressed ready to ride to work and wearing a rucksack... plus holding my mountain bike 😉

I'll never completely do the diet, having discovered that I'm pretty close to Lance's lowest weight

Yeti.. how many times.. weight is not the important value...

Possibly a shade under 84kg this morning, will see how it goes. Didn't ride in though, stiff tired legs. Will do something tonight off the bike I think.

EDIT googled for zinc + fructose + insulin. Bit technical for me I think!

I'm with you on the spice thing Dave - but I was referring more to a method of prepping/cooking - as opposed to the flavouring/seasoning. Online stuff said to make them like pancakes, but they just didn't come out right. Ta

Well depends what you are doing.

Body fat % would be more appropriate. Or even just power/strength to weight ratio.

Well I'm not getting any 'weeker' and I'm not buying one of your fancy power meter things.

I'm just going to add a couple of Lance's workouts to my current routine.

Lance's stats do seem to go against the other riders though.. don't you think?

surely the way to measure is how many rolls of fat your belly makes when you sit down...

You don't need to. Just find a hill climb time trial, that'll encompass many relevant stats in one test 🙂

Yeti, there's a website for another AS challenge (just the hill bit) that if you time it and put your time on the website, it'll work out your power. Not sure how accurate it is, but worth a go. Perhaps not for all 31 though! 🙂 Plus, given it is like winter here, i would imagine we'll have a howling headwind, be in full winter gear and soaked so maybe its not the best option!

In other news, my power has come back finally *punches air in delight* and i'm looking forward to some speedwork and hill reps tomorrow night. 8)

*goes to catch up on the rest of the thread in an attempt not to eat the creme egg in my bag* 😕

Pah, Scotland's always sunny when I've been there.

Good news on the power Dirty... don't go overdoing it this week though!

Cold, wet and stormy here *shivers*. I'm planning a pretty hard week if i can, then as of next Monday i'm resting - 96m sportive - resting - road racing/getting my legs ripped off - resting - AS - convent power struggle - recovering!

I'm not sure they're that accurate. I thought he was around 70-72kg for most of his tour wins?

Don't forget big mig.. He was around 80kg but could ride with some of the best climbers in the tour because of his massive power output

Oh, while on the subject of flatbread...

Allow me to impart a word to the wise.

You might not want to keep your gram flour in the same type of container as your mustard powder.....

You'll probably win the dirt stuff due to my time off the mtb (though i gave mustard a good run for his money on my ht yesterday 😆 ) but there's other challenges too!

So what about condiments? Tomato sauce and salad cream are presumably bad but are they bad enough that they negate he point of avoiding carbs in the first place? I presume mayo is OK as it's mostly fat?

1) What is AS?

2) I doubt the website will be very accurate for the reasons you go into....weather, altitude, road surface, how you're feeling etc.

FW.

Its about low GI. so check out the GI rating for said condiments.
Low is GO
Medium and High is NO.

However, it seems the theme that one avoids condiments with sugar in them, and IIRC, ketchup has a fair bit of sugar in it.

All this, of course, with respect to the day off where you can drink the stuff if thats your bag.

I've found that making my own dressing/sauces has been the key to unlocking the beans/pulses/salads.

STW has become quite a collection of food ideas, albeit that one will now need to do a fair bit of searching and reading.

😉

Friend in Switzerland has been on the diet for 3 weeks and lost 16kg - she was quite large but very active and never lost weight despite marathon running etc. She's stunned at the effect.

35lbs in 3 weeks? Either a decimal point has gone AWOL or she lost a limb.

Yet? Do we have a possible 7th person then? Looks like plans are fairly firm now - although not heard back from druidh to see if the timing suits him - so i'll start talking more about it / drumming up interest soon 🙂

If its as windy as it is today, it could well take us 31 hours to complete! 😯 *buys a sail for the bike just in case*

No Charity Cardio Marathon for me tonight...i was meant to be at the gym but i've got to work late tonight so doubt i'll make it 😥

Edit - mol according to druidh's gps, its 5.3km / 89.5m ascent per lap. That makes 164.3km, 2,775m for 31 laps. (102 miles / 9,104 ft)

All I will say is I saw my chance and I went for it. Deal with it.

Oh and hold the awesome people as........

As for AS, after double checking I will be in Sheff that weekend monkeying around Kinder Scout.

To be honest, it does not really appeal. While I like to push myself to do stuff I also want to enjoy it. 31 laps round Arthur's Seat? Will it not get a bit...well boring?

Anyway. I will leave it to you race whippets this time, but thanks for even considering me. I will probably see if Phil and Darcy want to eat flapjacks over skype.

Edit: You know what I would like to do? A proper military assault course....a bit of everything. Kinda like this maybe.....but I doubt I would beast it like this ninja:
