eat them all just before you start the exercise, it doesnt matter how long you're exercising for as the sugar rush will help you work harder therefore burning more off in the long run. FACT.

DAYS OFF?!?!?! what are you? some kinda biffer? real men dont have days off.

Yeti, its ok, deep breath. Eat them all now, then have a coke in an hour. Then when you finish exercise, have another coke and cheesecake, along with anything left in your car. Simples. šŸ˜†

But you are just exercising, what about me and my ramp test? How much sugar, coffee and energy gels should i eat so i can smash Mol's power test (or has anyone got a spare set of legs i could borrow instead?) PANIC!

Christ I'm going to do some exercise in about 2 hours and I really don't know what to eat when, how, why?

I've got a 'nana and a nature valley bar. I've got a load of dried nuts to and some soreen in the boot of my car I think. Pretty sure I've got some energy gels left from the weekend too. Shall I eat them all, now, in a minute, after, help meeee.

Eat everything, feel guilty that you're going to get fat.
Then run around like a loone until you fall asleep.
When you awake, console yourself by drinking some white wine while admiring your 6 pack in your full length mirror and while adlibbing to the pussy cat dolls

Ok thanks.

I have another question...

How much of my own blood would I need to drink to replace the pint of blood I donated earlier?

When you awake, console yourself by drinking some white wine while admiring your 6 pack in your fuill length mirror and while adlibbing to the pussy cat dolls

Have you been stalking me or talking the Yet-ette?

dirty girl, you know those 'race packs' you can buy full of gells and powders.... 4 of them.

yeti, you wont need to drink any blood to replace it, just water and the body will do the rest. if you want to experience a lightheaded feeling then i suggest breakdancing until everything goes black.

no i'm not racist, white people breakdance too.

solo, i dont follow the iDiet, i eat many things on the banned list (banned list is available from deadlydarcy if you email him your bank details or photos of men) on a day to day basis. i created the iPhilly diet ages ago and its working well šŸ™‚

That's good Phil, but it's not the one.

There must be a rough answer?

It's a bit like the 'would I lose weight if I ate my own arm question?' but a little more practical.

Its complicated because we are constantly told by the so called experts to eat at least 5 portions of carbohydrate/starchy food each day for energy.

However, when I eat like that I feel like shit. However, nobody up until recently has told me why.

Just looking for some decent honest advice from those in the know and those with previous experience of following this "regime".

Talking as someone who was previously diagnosed with and recovered from CFS/ME, I know what its like to feel tired, very tired. What I am trying to understand is why I struggle to maintain exercise for more than a month or so at a time and never really get any fitter.

Was therefore hoping that by following a regime that more competent athletes than me follow, I might improve. But conscious that we are all built differently.

Yes there has been a sudden dip in Stella consumption in N.Wales and just when I'd got to the stage of a discount at the local kebab house too. Hummus wouldn't go near the stuff!

Good work Tricky, I was hoping this thread would appear at some point.

I actually drank a recovery drink last night. I was close to passing out after 2 hours on the mtb, and had 40 mins drive home still to make.

Giving blood and exercising is not a winning combination.

No it didn't. I think I'd have been better off with a coke. Actually I'd be better off giving up smoking again but I've got to wait until lent is over.

Yes I did... I might post a video of me riding up Mow Cop from the weekend. The other people walking up the hill make me look super fast!

we had beautiful ride last night, 99%sniggletrack, 2 hours, skills everywhere, no waiting for mrsconsequence as she's sped up massively and its almost difficult keeping up with her at certain points!

i love the bouncy bike and the reverb, love that becca is as fast as us now more so! makes the ride infinitely more enjoyable for us and for her!

328W at 85kg is 3.86 W/kg

If DGOaB manages 170W, she beats you on power:weight.

So, seeing as i was warming up on 170w before the test, i can say that i have well and truely beaten mol on power - weight. Can we have a party to celebrate this occasion please? Coke and cheesecake all round?

The sums were wrong - you need to do 212W for 10 miles to beat me in power/weight. Which you almost certainly would šŸ™‚ However on a flat TT I would beat you, probably.

Molly - do you have to have someone set up the power meter etc? Or is it more plug and play?

Cos then it's not power to weight that's important, it's power to drag, and your air resistance won't be a lot less than mine.

Plug and play, assuming you get one that's already been built into a wheel of course. There are people who calibrate them for you apparently but they are quite accurate as they come, I understand.

You need to check it's zeroed every so often by holding a button down, that's it.

I would expect DGOAB to have a smaller frontal area? She is a small keyring size person is she not?

Power meters need to be calibrated.

She will have a smaller frontal area but I bet not by 38% which is what the weight difference is.

iDave I never heard of this calibration until you mentioned it.. how far out can they be if you don't?

+1 for calibration. It was the first thing the coach did last night when i got there. Once it was calibrated, i then had a 15min warm up on it. The calibration was harder than the 100-200w warm up!

I don't agree with your power to drag theory. The way i see it is, i produce more power to weight than you, i can tuck down further as i'm smaller than you = faster than you. What upper body bits would count for air drag? My shoulders are the widest bit of me at 37. I feel another challenge coming on! šŸ˜›

Is that 3.86 w / kg someone quoted as your power to weight ratio right? Did you have a max power test to get determine your max power and adjust it to your current weight? As i'd put on 0.8kgs last night, i lost some power to weight but was still over the 5w / kg. *admires my guns* šŸ˜†

Not sure that follows.. but anyway, find 5 miles of flat open road with a roundabout at the end and let's see how long it takes šŸ™‚ Normal road bike on drops mind, no clip-ons.

328W was my average power over the 24-odd minutes it took me. No idea what my results would be on a ramp test.

Why Mr Grips, i thought you'd never ask! Normal road bike drops are all i have.

How about we go one step further and make it a proper event? I propose Mustard and I travel down south so there's no excuses to be had about head winds or the like (unless i'm behind you and you are idave compliant and full of beans) šŸ˜›
Trickydisco can find mustard and i a race to do before/after our challenge.
TSY can be on hand to compare our guns, mop sweat from our brows and offer massages to the winner/loser (or whosever thighs Sammie Louise likes best).
Jimmers can supply [s]the all you can eat buffet[/s] recovery food
Idave can check our times.
Philly and DD can be our shexy cheerleaders?

Molgrips,

Are you sure your 5 miles took you about 24 minutes?
24 minutes is an ok time for a 10 mile TT.

Dirty girl said earlier she was aiming for a 10 mile TT in about that time.
