Way before Kate Humble decided to make a telly programme about her lambing experiences, it's been on my 'to do' list for many years.

So is there anyone in North Cheshire/South Manchester who would allow me to watch or even join in, helping these cute little creatures in our world? Oooh and is there room for a friend?

Thanks.

Lol @ Stoner. Are you trying to put me off?

As a sort of non-romantic person and having worked most of my young life in the local stables, I was used to shit/mud and gooey stuff.

Once stayed on a farm on the North Yorkshire moors, it was lambing time and I unashamedly tucked into a leg of lamb for dinner that evening. Nom nom.

One should always know where the meat is from.

in which case enjoy yourself.

Take a hipflask and wear thermals.

at least it's stopped raining for a bit....

It all sounds a bit like mtbing to me - thermals, hip flask, mud, shit, middle of the night.

I just need someone to allow me to give a helping hand.

Rain? It's beautiful here. How's your barn coming along Stoner?

Not sure you can join in, but Rease Heath Agriculrural College near Nantwich is in th NW and is having it's 'Lambing Open Weekend' at the moment, open 10.00 - 4.00 Sunday. My wife went today and got to watch a pair of twins being born, and then cuddled loads of others etc. Seen her photos, looked a good day. I'd been pulling her leg suggesting when she and her friend turned up (its a fiver to go in) and paid for just "two adults" they would wonder where her children were, but she says there were an awful lot of just adults without kids there - all looking at loads of lambs!

Website is wwww.reaseheath.ac.uk

Rabbiting usually ends with a rabbit pie... So does lambing I suppose, but there's usually a bigger gap.

and if not I've sent Julian an email. We both ( i think), know someone who has sheep and raises lambs, he'd be happy to allow you to help I'm sure. Let me know if the email doesn't arrive, the first two attempts came back as failed.

looks a bit posh for storing hay stonor, how you gonna get the cattle upstairs?

To the OP contact the local agricultural college they usually do short courses on lambing. Swinging them about by their back legs is the best bit.
