and can it work, I'm not all that politically minded. Has anyone else heard about this and what does it mean in the short and long term ❓
It's the difference between seeing bankers as a criminal class, or seeing them as legitimate business owners who always are given taxpayer's money when they funk up.
Some people see debt as a form of slavery, and see no reason why bankers should be given bailouts when in fact they should be in prison. There has been fraud in the US for example that would take your breath away if you understood it and it was reported honestly.
I feel that the Icelandic people have the right idea, whereas many other nations do not rise up against the banking class and say enough is enough.

You know what's odd ❓ the media hasn't reported this and so the general public isn't interested, it's like the media determine what individuals who watch TV see as important, very scary 😯
Still iceland is showing the rest of the world up, people need to turn their TV's off and their brains back on, or we might as well put the church back in power and return to the dark ages!

There has been a number of serious protests IIRC.
Icelandic banks behaved recklessly in international markets and lost a shitload of money. The banks defaulted ,cost other countries loads of money Teh government of iceland wants to come out of default and pay back the money so it can operate normally in the international money market, this would be a significant sum each and the people don't want to pay it.
The Icelandic electorate freely voted for the neo-liberal policies which got them in this mess, no one forced them to do so. And they were more than happy to live the fictitious capital dream. So there's no point them blaming it all on the politicians and bankers - they did have a choice.
Of course they have now learnt their lesson, and the Left has been in government since 2009. But this is very much a case of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted ........it's too late, the damage has been done.
