.... in fairness you would be hard pressed to do this in an Alhambra ....

Yeeeees its largely more of the same but that's missing the point 😉

Amazing car - love the active aero.

The extras at the end are great. I'm loving the shot of the car doing donuts on top of the tabletop with flames exiting the screamer pipe - appeals to the child in me 🙂

Aye, got some skills...

Really nice bloke too, shared a chair lift with him in Whistler a few years ago, really chatty and enthusiastic.

The general look on his face suggested a general state of ".... oh sh*t ...." mind you he managed to keep the screaming to himself which is more than I could have done 🙂

The active aero to adjust trajectory was just a brilliant addition!

Yeah... But the Dukes of Hazzard were clearing jumps like that in a crapped out old Dodge Charger 40 years ago...

I'm not sure he'd have much fun in my Octavia anyway.

Apparently at a cost of about 2 Chargers per episode. 300 in total apparently.

I suspect this Subaru probably cost more than those 300 Chargers !

Not really into cars but ...

I do like a bit of silliness 😊

Handles it a bit better than the lad who wrote off his Impreza near us a few years ago - lost it on about a ten degree bend and went end over end along the wall (five large holes) before ending up in the field. Amazingly he walked with just bruises.

Great vid

Did anything think that if the car didn't have all the little wings it would be much nicer looking

Ghastly

Thanks for your input. 🙄🙄

IIRC correctly one of the specs for one of the Gymkhana cars was to “be able to travel backwards at 70mph with all four wheels travelling at 70mph forwards with nothing breaking”.

Great engineering, great driving, great entertainment.

It’s a Subaru Imprezza isn’t it? So very unlikely!

Surely the important question is - is it happy at 20mph or does he have to keep changing gear?

What do they do to the car to make it less nose heavy on the jump?
Is it affected by the myriad aerofoils?

I think the video demonstrates the 'faster is safer' approach adequately.

Almost didn't bother playing it as figured would be Ken Block and as talented as he is the videos mostly bore me. Good to see it was Travis though, didn't realise he was so talented in a car. Wish he'd do more Nitro Circus stuff but imagine being one of his kids with that backyard and toys to play with!

Enjoyed it but a few too many doughnuts. Seeing a car skidding in a circle once is cool, but I think he does about a hundred.

Liked the jumps though, the second one at whatever crazy speed he was doing was mental

Loved that every in car shot his eyes were on stalks, I doubt he blinked for any of those takes 😀

The hoonicorn is still the best, crazy crazy stuff by ken block.

Impressive driving but was I the only one wishing they'd just pick one angle for each stunt?

Seriously it's maybe a three minute video, dragged out to almost ten so people can **** off over every move from four different angles...

Slightly O.T., but a Challenger was driven by Kowalski in Vanishing Point.

Have you ever done a stunt on film? They are watching this on repeat barely able to believe they did it. let them overindulge on the angles.

thoroughly enjoyed the latest vid. He absolutely gives it the beans over the jumps and water.

First few Gymkhana's were great, but then they felt a bit same old for the next few. This had something new.

And Travis is such a cool dude.

Do we think due to multiple takes it was multiple sets of tyres.... or did one set last the beasting?!

I thought it was just the bulldozer scene that used a substitute?

The charger collapsed in each jump. You can see it happen in most of the flying scenes.

It seems the average floridian is so stupid (or pig headed) that the only way to film on city streets is to fully block every possible means of vehicle access with a lights blaring police cruiser. Kind of ruins the atmosphere.

Asking the real questions.

Yeah, just put in the risk assessment that you're relying on people's common sense / a notice stuck to a lamp post, eh?

Challenger…

Nope. ‘70 Charger, same as the black Dodge in Bullit. Full-width grill with the headlights hidden behind.

This is a Challenger…

I was buying Hot Rod magazine in 69/70, those two, along with the Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda were my absolute favourites.

Just watched the video, judging by just how flat that car was staying whilst airborne, all those flanges, as well as the active wing, were definitely doing their stuff, much like current F1 cars. Phenomenal car control, although that bit on the dock looked a wee bit close for comfort.

Been bored with these Gymkhana vids over the last few years, but this is a great return to form! Remember the Huckster from Goodwood its an incredible thing. Jumps looked sketchy AF

Pastrana was always a showman as well as a quick 'crosser, nice to see him getting his kicks without the constant injuries 🙂

Without the injuries? Literally the first shot in the video is Travis acquiring a broken L5 vertebra, multiple breaks to his pelvis and other injuries! Or did I miss the joke?

Edit: obviously I did, somehow managed to miss the smiley. Sorry 😳

Other locations seem to manage it (both Pastrana and others). I've no doubt the streets are blocked off, and they have received the appropriate police presence to manage it... but only in Florida does it seem necessary to fully block the lanes with a cruiser with the blue and reds blaring.

Or maybe the street architecture and camera angles mean I have just never noticed before.

Or it might just be done for effect on the film...everywhere seems to be deserted so not looking like the police presence is needing to keep the crowds away.

Did you miss the massive nose dive on the bridge then the small nose dive over the helicopter? iirc he's said that he has no idea if the aero stuff actaully does anything useful.

The BJ Baldwin stuff is still more fun imo just due to what Trophy Trucks can do, only a little annoying that certain bits are very much for a target audience

E.g.

Also the nose dive after the water bit...very few of the jumps seemed to not land nose heavy.

Ken Block in London.

Apart from the bit at 8:30 where the police motos are part of the act, rather than holding the braying unwashed in check; there's not a copper to be seen.

Perhaps the Met are a bit more subtle than Ft Lauderdale troopers.
