Why?

Why, oh why, oh why?

Only Laird Hamilton's cameo raised any interest.

In some perverse form of masochism, I watched it all the way through.

The only reason I can think I'll watch it is being on a long haul flight with nothing better to do...

I'm glad I've avoided it. The original was (is) such a classic, should have been left alone.

Why?

That would be my review for the entire film.

Agreed. I'd also rather be on a long haul flight than watch Pointless Break 2.

An abortion of a film. The original was outstanding

One of the worse films of last year, truly dreadful. Its films like that which drive people to illegal downloads rather than waste a tenner at the cinema.

So bad! How could anybody have thought the screenplay would work?

I also watched it this week. Agree the thing was crap as a film, but the scenes and scenery was amazing. The climbing at the end and the snowboarding was good, the wingsuit stuff was impressive too.

I watched Spectre the following night and it was worse all the same.

I agree it was terrible. They should have at least changed the character names. But as above; I did enjoy the action scenes and I didn't turn it off.

Loved the free soloing bit at the end. I know it wasnt real, but its a fascinating sport!

Laird Hamilton: A neck with a body attached. Good surfer though!

People rated the original? Ok, it was kinda watchable far-fetched tripe, but Keanu's 'acting' was like someone doing a bad impression of Bill & Ted (which was awesome )

I flew Trans Atlantic recently and this was on. I was bored so had a watch. Then turned it off again. Awful!

Some remakes are good.

This just adds to pile of why did they even bother?

Could have been worse. I had to take the smallest Cursing to the Angry Birds Movie.

The weird thing was watching people doing extreme sports without GoPros strapped to every surface/limb.

Spotlight is on my "to watch" list, but alas it wasn't on Delta's system. Wasn't BA for this trip, sadly.

Watched it last night as a result of this thread.

No better or worse than the original. Equally wooden acting coupled with a pointlessly mystical storyline to justify extreme sports and having a party.

His 'Noooooooooooooo' wasn't as good as Canoe's though.

...and it was a pile of steaming horse crap.

What the hell was Ray Winstone doing in it? need to pay off some gambling debts?

It wasn't just the combination of terrible acting and excessively long extreme sports segments, the plot was total hatstand and the predictable ending was rather predictable.

Great movie all round really.

He's done more than his fair share of rubbish.
