But what? Got a little bit of trail building planned, and lots of books to read, but I fancy something to make when the weather's awful and I'm not out getting wet.

Never really got into Airfix models as a kid, should I give them a second chance? Lego is awesome but expensive... Any ideas?

Second hand prices normally remain high though, you could have fun building a set and admiring it for a while before selling it on. You might even make a profit if you pick the right set - all Lego is limited edition and the 2nd hand prices of some particular sets are unbelievable.

Should have said, cheap is preferable 😉

A 3d printer would be cool, but I fear it would simply languish next to the computer if I even managed to get it to work.

Offcuts from the local timber yard, some basic woodworking tools, and make something for your/someone elses kids? Or a chess set - that would keep you busy!

Edit: Making a chess set, not just playing chess.

Hey Mr Queue Jumper! My Commençal first, then your garden!

Speaking of which, what time's convenient for you to collect, flyingmonkeycorps? 😉

STOP TRYING TO SELL ME MOTORBIKES! The Mrs would kill me. Plus we don't have room, sadly. I get in enough trouble building push bikes in the kitchen.

Quite like the idea of woodworking, but again space is an issue. Chess set though. That would be a proper challenge. Then I could learn to play chess next weekend!

Camo16 - Tuesday? You should probably look at the state of some of my bikes before letting me loose on it though.

The Karmann has 4 wheels - much safer

Takes up more space though, don't think it'd fit in the kitchen.

Just don't respray it pink and it's happy days.

Tuesday's fine. If you're lucky I'll also show you my wood (pile).

What year is your Ghia, and are you serious about selling?

I was going to tech up my garden, adding some raspberry pis to record sensor data and stick some cameras here and there to record critters, then write a website to make it all accessible.

You are free to steal this (Admittedly not very original) idea.

I would. If I had a garden to speak of!

Do the inside version then. Simple. Original. Slightly weird. Perfect.

At least I'd be able to keep up with progress as you [s]butcher[/s] repair my newly pinked up Commencal.

I think butcher is probably more apt... I'm thinking of a kind of "raw meat" kinda finish.

Plans are forming already then? Excellent, Smithers. Raw meat's the in look for 2014, so that suits me perfectly.

Sounds like you're spare time's sorted this winter! Might as well close the thread now. 😉

Oh, I thought that was one of your past efforts, as per...

Ah well. As you were. 😉

Build a go cart (proper gravity only type) out of wood and wheels (possibly a brake).

My winter project I picked up a while ago, 77 Yamaha xs750 triple.

[img] [/img]

Have done quite a bit already, but still a long way to go. Hoping to get the engine turning over in the not too distant future.

Papercraft Howl's Moving Castle?
I guess you'd have to get it printed A3 somewhere so might cost £20 or something.
