You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Having wasted a small fortune on RC cars over the years, I now want to get into drones. The other half's children have a Parrot one with camera and it's pretty cool if a bit heavy on batteries. However I want something a bit more serious, how should I go about it?
I've got a hobbyking account but all the options on there seem confusing - I've only ever used them in the past for Lipo batteries.
So what do I need to know? And can I link it up to my Samsung VR thing so I can play Star Wars?
I had an interest in how they worked and what went into them, so built one myself. The building of it was the point so sold it before I bought radio gear even!
Frame kit with power distribution board, flight controller, 4 speed controllers, 4 motors, and props, batteries + the radio gear is all you need to get one flying. The slightly tricky part is making sure the motors fit the frame, the speed controllers match the battery and motors, the props suit the weight and won't clash.
Camera module and transmitter for vision on top of that. Not that expensive and more interesting than just putting a pre-purchased kit together, plus you will learn all you need to improve it as you get better.
There's some decent YouTube video's and channels that explain all you need. Use that funky PM tool if you need any help or pointers.
Thanks chap, that’s much appreciated
Being a keen model builder in the past I can see the attraction of building my own. Will check YouTube as suggested!
