We hired a 'Rug Doctor' from our local Morrisons, you should see the crap in the waste tank, unbelievable! I think the machine has a 'muck injector' built in so it looks like the carpet's manky.

How good was it at getting the crap out? I have a beige carpet (was here when i arrived!) and a oily bike habit...

I've used a rug doctor once on our beige carpets (not my choice, it's a rented house) and it did a great job and was dead simple. Not sure about oil though, but you can get some stuff to pre-treat bad stains.

😀 I Hired one for my brother when he got the keys to his first house. The carpets were beige and badly stained with all sorts. Hot chocholate, wine, kids crayons, you name it. We figured the cleaner wouldnt remove the stains but at least it would be a little more hygenic until he could replace them. Surprisingly however, with two or three passes over the perticually bad bits, it came up like new! 😯 8) All but one stain completely vanished and the one that didnt was now virtually indistinguishable and the pile on the carpet came right up! Well worth the £25 hire fee for 48 hours. We did my house and my parents house while we had it, so it worked out very cheap! Like the Op though, you should see the dirt that comes out of an otherwise clean looking carpet. its quite shocking and you feel a little ashamed.

These rug doctors are OK but IMHO you cannot beat wood/laminate floors for ease of cleaning. I have an OCD, perpetually cleaning missus which makes it even easier as I never have to touch it 😀

KT1973 - Have to agree on the laminate, but I'm glad its only down in the hall and kitchen. I dont really like laminate in living rooms and bedrooms, they make it feel cold and echo'ie. Cant beat the feel of a good pile carpet underfoot. Personal preferance and all that.

I work as a service engineer for Rug Doctor, have done for 12 years now, they are great machines, easy to use and cheap to hire.

If anyone's looking for this sort of job, they may be looking for new engineers in the near future as we've just taken on a great new contract with a major supermarket.

Good IMO circa £30k a year with pension, and after 3 years BUPA with no worries about previous history.

I'd defo use one again after today, very impressed. In fact my missus did most of it, I just emptied & re-filled it.
PePPeR, 30K a year sounds triffic. Any 'qualifications' needed?

dmiller, yes they do work on sofas, they come with an upholstery tool and you can buy the special detergents to do the job.

esselgruntfuttock, there are no qualifications required, all training is given, they provide a 3.5t van, but they do expect you to work for the money.

Hmmm...28K & arguing with prisoners or 30K & driving a van, I'll have to think about it.

Sorry been away working all week,

Check out Rug Doctors web site there should be a contact page on there, see I'm good to you even went on there and found it.

http://www.rugdoctor.co.uk/rent/rd_rent_contact_us.htm

If you apply to the personnel department, you should be heading in the right direction.

From my understanding they are going to have 2 vacancies available shortly with another two a couple of months after that. Good luck.

If you can find a Morrisons with Rug Doctor locally they are a whole lot cheaper, but not all Morrisons have them yet.
