I have done my knee in for the fourth time in 12 years. Can limbs hate the rest of the body??
The most annoying this is that I could have (and IMO should have) done it doing something fun. The day before, I was riding at Lee Quarry and massively overshot the landing of one of the tabletops. Managed to recover just in time.
Also, I had a proper comedy crash [s]riding [/s]trying to ride one of the logs.
See, there was ample opportunity to injure myself in a way that would not only have been probably pretty funny to witness, but could also have been wrapped in a nice gnarrr(ish)-type story.
As it was, I was in the house and I turned to go back to the kitchen so I could stuff my face with more marshmallows. It seems that I attempted to travel a bit too quickly for my knee's liking and am now the lucky recipient of a torn medial meniscus (again).
SO the tally for my right knee now stands at:
1. Flake fracture at the end of my right femur circa 2000 (Five a sides)
2. Torn medial meniscus right leg circa 2002(episode 1)(Five a sides)
3. ACL rupture right leg circa 2006(Just kicking a ball about with my nephew)
4. Torn medial meniscus right leg circa last week (episode 2)
(flippin marshmallows - they need to carry some sort of health warning on them, Grrrrrr).
I'm not sure how long it will take to get back on the bike; it's looking like a month or so at least. 😥
Anyway, to all those lucky souls brave enough to face riding the trails in January, I salute you, (and at the same time I hate you).
Damn! Bad luck old chap. Get well soon, at least you can stay warm whilst the rest of us freeze in the outside.
It might be worth your while to go & pay to see someone who knows what they are doing to make sure your knee (and adjacent bits) gets properly rehabilitated - most off the peg postoperative care is non-existent or rubbish.
