Bbby George is my favourite.

If I took up darts, I'd like to be a small brown version of that; spangly shirt, loads of gold, have a pint, throw some darts.

Trying to work out if the dart sounds are real. Listened to a programme yesterday about enhanced sound in sports coverage and in darts sometimes the dart hitting the board triggers a sample so what you hear at home is infact a kick drum or the sound of a bin being hit.

Its amazing how much augmented sound there is in sport, the sound of oars hitting the water in live olympic rowing coverage is a guy with a sampler playing along live (all you'd actually hear otherwise is motorboats and helicoptors), same with skiing, all played along to the visuals by a guy with a keyboard. (the olypmics has its own sound designer with a team of nearly 1000 sound technicians)

If you watch horse racing the sound of the horses is a tape of stampeding buffalo thats been slowed down. The sound of the 2008 wimbledon mens final was nominated for a bafta.

At at the Grand National many years ago it used to be a chap watching the pictures drumming his fingers on a desk, obviously stopping when they jumped..!

For real? Well I never. The dirty bastards! 😡

Poor Andy went through proper hell with his illnesses (yeah I know bad lifestyle choices yadda yadda blah blah whatever), but if you hear him interviewed, he's a sound bloke.

He made a massive effort to turn his life around, as he needed a liver transplant. Stopped drinking, lost stupid amounts of weight, and now may not need a transplant for some time, if ever. He's been dry for five years today, in fact, and plans to cycle to raise money for charity.

Top man.

I love darts and have played in Pub Teams and SuperLeague for around 10 years. Used to play in the garage when i was little so have played for over 30 years but only joined some proper teams when i moved down to London.

Chris Mason used to live at the pub i played for but he is not a very pleasant man, god knows how he's landed a job commentating after his prison spell.

I still don't class darts as a sport though, it's a pub game, but it is ace. 🙂 You also meet some real characters, i never knew that real people actually have Love and Hate tattooed on their knuckles until i joined the league.....

The Chinese went one better - for Beijing they actually recorded the sound (and commentary) before each event. Then they got a huge team of special effects bods to edit the video in real time as the event took place - one for each competitor. The men's steeplechase, you can actually see the water splash before anyone goes over the barrier on the last lap

My little brother played a televised exhibition match against 15 times world champ Phil 'the power' Taylor after getting a bye into the finals of a regional knock-out competition..

Phil mercilessly drubbed him..

and wtf is it with the boxing style entrances...........

If I was a professional darts player, I'd come on with loads of theatrical dry ice and thunder and lightning effects, all dark and gothic, wearing a 'death' style shrouded cape and carrying a scythe, but the cape would instead be made from pink lace by that woman what done the dresses on My Big Gypsy Wedding and with LEDs all over it and that.

Elfin 'The Omen' Safety.

And thissud be me theme tune:

Sung of course by a choir full of adorable small children, in matching pink lace Death shrouds....

Man of style, in't I? 😀
