He came across as pure evil in today's episode.
But why would he risk his own child?
[sighs heavily]
What Drac said, Willis.
Nasty piece of work. Am hoping Jazzer hoofs him in the slats.
If you don't what is being discussed here, step away from the thread.
Haters gonna hate.
I don't hate, I don't have a scooby what you're on about. If you don't what is being said in reply, don't start impenetrable threads.
I've still no idea what you're on about.
The Archers?
It's the everyday tale of malevolent country folk.
Aaaah, it's The Archers isn't it (thanks Bregante).
😡 BREGANTE? 😡
Ah! In that case I have no idea what you're on about.
I did say it was a guess!
Probly EastEnders or something....
Hollyoaks?
I've been screaming at the radio for ages.....idiot still wont listean
I'm with ya, gobuchul! Something not right going on there, I mean who turns down fresh black pudding?!
No good'll come of this I tell thee
who turns down fresh black pudding?
You don't think he's a....
*shudders*
vegetarian, do you?
😯
Kirsty is her only hope. If she doesn't expose him then nobody will.
I can't believe no one's picked up on this.
Not even Susan.
Can you imagine how much fun the scriptwriters have, thinking up new ways to ruin Helen's life?
I think it's quite a good story to be honest, he is a right manipulative git and shows how people can be undermined quite easily.... Mind you Helen is not what could be described as a hard nut to crack.... Not that she deserves it... And that's saying something...
I usually only get to listen to the omnibus, so not sure what he's been up to this week, but I hope he meets a sticky end soon. Great scriptwriting though.
The fact that.
1.I know what you're talking about
2.I agree
Makes me very sad indeed (I bypassed radio 2 and went straight to 4)
Is this about Helen and Henry? I think it was Henry, she tried to take him out of school but the dad caught them. Am i on the right track?
Still in the dark here, I have no idea what anyone is talking about.
Although the writing is good yes...... It's been burning along as a story line for a long time ..... I hope it comes to a peak soon! Will save me getting angry shouting at the radio..... Rob is definitely evil and manipulative barsteward
You must be talking about Rob Kardashian...
Much nicer than that tarty dress 😯
Oh he is a right bastard, what has happened to Pat the original firebrand, why can't she see what's going on.
I don't think he's poisoning her - although I think it's suggested he drugged her to get her pregnant? He's just gradually chipping away at her confidence and now she has an eating disorder. Rob's a very believable character. I just hope he gets found out - if they polish him off with a combine harvester Helen will have to be all sad and mourn the b*d. Anyone who read the full Traharn Chidley blog linked to the Sealskinz ad will see the Rob & Helen tale is very realistic.

Because he's very, very good at it.
😐
I think smacking the hunt sab might come back to haunt him.
Jack's dementia was heartbreaking, but for believable, slowburning scriptwriting brilliance, the aftermath of Cathy's rape - Kenton's shallowness, her isolation, the disintegration of the relationship with Jamie.
Tough one to listen too, but so well done.
BTW, did anything come of Carol Tregorran admitting to Jennifer that she finished off John?
Professor Snape in the moving stairway with a levitation spell?
So many missed chances for him to be caught out, from blocking rainwater courses to sending the Polish cow hand home early. He's a proper nasty piece of work and I for one will celebrate when he gets a kick right up the Grundy's.
I mean, the humanity of it, he suggested that the shop stop stocking sausages,, for that alone he needs to go.
I did say it was a guess!Probly EastEnders or something....
Hollyoaks?
Rapidly becoming so.
I wish it would all come to a head, its getting a bit tedious now as he seems so obvious yet no one apart from Hayley appears to suspect anything.
The MiL is also an evil ****er!
Hayley has to do something!
Surely once the plan to send Henry to boarding school comes out, then Rob is rumbled.
Hayley? Watcha on abaaat....? You is deluded. 😉
surely it'll be Kirsty to the rescue?
or at least, helping Helen dig the grave...

I meant Kirsty obviously! 😳
Too upsetting to listen to.
Too upsetting to listen to.
This. I actually have to turn it off.
Me too!
And what sort of accent did that Alf have? 🙄
Rob'll get sucked in when he can't trust Helen on her own with the shrink so goes in too only to get sussed by said shrink. Hoisted by his own whatchamacallit.
I'm glad to see this issue being covered so well. Unsettling, but necessarily so.
Too upsetting to listen to.
That. Not switched back on after hearing Rob about to 'rape' her earlier this week - can't decide whether it's an issue being done really well, or just cheaply milking a character to be maximum evil in every possible way.
I'll be glad when we're back to milk yields and Brian Aldridge's rapidly shrinking wine cellar.
It is very unsettling stuff.
Rob is a bastard. I'm hanging in there in hope he gets it.
Do you think he will go postal and try and off Kirsty?
joining scruff in the silo...
Scruff came home at Christmas, there is still a lump in my throat 😆
or at least, helping Helen dig the grave...
More likely the body will be left to Toms pigs.
Made the mistake of tuning in tonight. I feel like writing a strongly worded letter to points of view!
I thought the boil was about to be lanced...
Chilling stuff tonight. Poor Henry.
Surely it has to come to an end soon.
#savehelen.
I don't know what was scarier; his controlling behaviour or her justifications earlier in the episode - "things are much better"
Its a horrible storyline, but really gets across how powerless people in that situation must feel.
There was an interesting interview with a listener on Woman's Hour today whose sister had gone through a very similar experience to Helen. She reckoned that they had it pretty much spot on, including the way the other characters are behaving (e.g. Helen's mum being unable to see what's happening). Listen here if you like: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03pm4fr
Oh it's so horrible I can barely bare to listen! He's raped her! He's hit her! He controls her! He turns people against her! It makes me scream at the radio! I also agree with the above that it is an important storyline: these are all too common situations for people to be in, and highlighting them is important.
Another good article on Woman's Hour from the 29th:
Interview with the editor and the actress who plays Helen.

It's very good.
Working Sundays, so I've just caught up with the last two weeks.
It's horrible isn't it?
A very difficult listen indeed.
Not heard this week's yet.
He's going to get her sectioned, isn't he?
As has been said, this fiction is a fair reflection of what women are going through.
Someone's started a justgiving page to raise funds for Refuge.
Bit cheesy but if you've been affected by this story maybe think about making a gift?
https://www.justgiving.com/helentitchener/
Because Kirsty can't do this on her own, people. If over the last year or two you've sworn at the radio, tweeted in outrage, taken the name 'Robert' in vain, or posted your disgust at the worsening situation in Blossom Hill Cottage, then now's your chance to do something constructive about it.
A fiver could get Helen (and Henry) a taxi round to the safety of her mum's farm (she's not 'allowed' to drive). A tenner could get her that maternity top (he made her send back). Just a crisp twenty could order a seasonal starter at Grey Gables and perhaps a quiet, conciliatory word with its head chef.
Time to do something constructive and think of all the women who are genuinely stuck in relationships like this - and much, much worse. So, joking apart, all the money from the Rescue Fund will go to the brilliant Refuge, helping all those women who don't have a mate like Kirsty and their own organic cheese shop waiting for them at the end of it.
Whoa has it escalated ????? Last I heard was her saying I am having the baby in Hospital, the end line was him saying "I am not a monster" yes you bloody are I said out loud.
What has he done to Henry????
Looks like she is going to contact his ex-wife.
The truth about the paternity test will be coming out as well.
It's got to come to a head soon.
Whadda ya mean, 'the truth about the paternity test'?!?
I thought he was in the clear?
Whadda ya mean, 'the truth about the paternity test'?!?
I thought he was in the clear?
He is. At the moment.
I don't believe it was done correctly. Somehow his DNA wasn't tested.
This is ROB. No way is not the father of the other child.
But how.....?
Oh God, I'm confused now.
Can't remember THAT much of the Jess stuff tbh, especially how it ended.
Dodgy phone call wasn't it?
And how involved IS Ursula?
What with this, the arson and Alf, I can barely cope.
Whadda ya mean, 'the truth about the paternity test'?!?
I thought he was in the clear?
He found a used johnnie at that car park over at Penney Hasset.
"He found a used johnnie"
Since they take a swab from the inside of your cheeks, what exactly are you suggesting, Reuben? 😯
East European farm worker went missing.
Some dodgy behavior during the flood.
Punching the hunt protester.
Trying to send Henry to boarding to school.
Rape.
Cruel punishment of Henry.
The list goes on.
As has been said, this fiction is a fair reflection of what women are going through.

You're as bad as the rest of them if you think this is a gender problem and only confined to women. The evidence is growing that men also experience similar levels of domestic abuse, both physical and emotional and is massively more under reported and in about the same place as we were 40 years ago in terms of how seriously society and the police take it.
Has Alf been robbing from the family again? What arson?
I have to turn it off. Bring back Nigel and Nelson I say.
Pigface - Member
What arson?
The chicken house, built by Bert, for the Fairbrother brothers - mysteriously destroyed by fire, about a week ago.
The chickens weren't in it at the time, they're now living happily in the caravan.
You tell her, Jess!
No pudding!
😯
Blimey. 😯
Blimey!! poor Henry
Impeccably accurate as ever..
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/03/29/archers-villain-rob-titchener-could-murder-wife-helen-shows-edit/
I had a feeling that was coming. Grim.
Bloody hell!
Fraught. He had it coming, but I suspect Helen isn't out of the woods. She'll have to prove the provocation/self defence angle. Hope she can do so. She was protecting herself, not to mention Henry.
Balls, why did I open this thread!
Has she dun 'im in?
