Just need enough sheet around 5-6mm thick to make a couple of cheek pieces for a guitar effect unit.
Probable mahogany but any attractive wood will do. I need 2 pics around 35mm by 75mm.
Any advice on the best way to source something like this?

Any furniture places or wood workshops near you? Could probably scrounge some offcuts for free or very cheap?

Just to confirm, you are after two pieces 75x35x6mm, presumably planed to thickness?
If you were happy with some English walnut or Cherry or Yew I could help you out

That sounds great Jim.
The pieces I want are available cut to shape but I feel guilty about buying something I could cut myself and then having it have to be shipped across the Atlantic.
These are the commercial items. Looks like their thickness is 1/8th.
Obviously happy to pay for this.

if you can send me an accurate sketch (or even better some kind of CAD file!) I could laser cut it for you which is exactly what they're doing from that link.

I've got some nice 6mm birch ply with a grain on it which would look great with a bit of stain, or some 4mm light oak (possibly also walnut unless I used it all!) veneered MDF which would be fine as-is.

If you just want strips that dimension 75x35x6mm
I can do euro/oak pink Beach or ash.
You will have to do some sanding but will be P.S.E

Laser cut offer from Zilog sounds a good bet, but if needed just send address in PM if you want me to send some alternatives

Thanks guys. I'll get measuring and thinking. Maybe in the morning after waking up properly. Yoga has been a looooong day.

I'd look to ebay under 'Knife Scales'

Knife scales are the sides used for knife handles.

Usually quite exotic and/or highly figured timbers available for very little money

eg

Sized at 130mmx50mmx5-7mm

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222989753478?hash=item33eb399c86:g:5ZoAAOSw6tte07v~

£6 including postage

That is Beautiful but sadly too short. The long dimension should have been 300mm. Damn this metrication. If only we used inches...

Ah, so you need two pieces 300 x 75 x 6mm ??* Most of my offcuts are about 200-250mm in length unfortunately.
* (that’s 12 x 3 x 1/8 inch)

from footswitch it should go...

nut to tighten it down
flat washer to prevent marring the surface
the metal of the board
sprig washer to prevent twisting
second nut to set the height of the footswitch so you don't havve all the thread showing.

How about the amp profiling software and hardware and the comprehensive IO options?

It's the same unit but I suspect those switches mount directly to a pcb inside and maybe they are short on space. They do feel a bit more substantial than the ones on my Line6 stuff in the past.
Built in Germany so I'd like to think the engineering is right.

I'm normally straight into my THR10. Maybe via a looper if I'm feeling frisky:-).
Yesterday got a spare bedroom set up as an office/recording space so more gear may be set up ready to go now.

So back on topic.

I fished out some padauk i'm pretty sure there is a big enough piece to get something out. its very orange then will be red before ending up dark rich brown.

I also have some nice quarter sawn oak offcuts with nice medullary rays

Or some quite nice old draw sides in mahogany.

if any are of interest.

I don't have time to cut it though but you can have a big enough piece that you can book match for that touch of class at either end.

Yours for postage and a donation to a mental health charity of choice.

If you are interested let me know I'll take some photos
